When we speak or act in front of people, we don’t usually notice our body language that includes the movement of our hands and feet or even our facial expressions for that matter. What may never have crossed our minds is that such gestures that we do may be either good or bad for us because body language reveals a lot about our personalities and our feelings. Such things could make a good or bad impression on others or could influence if we get our dream job or not or it could even make people avoid you. Here are certain body language habits to avoid which may be good for our lives in the long run.

Slouching isn’t just bad for us and our self-confidence; it is also bad for our posture which can impact physiological bodily health. Slouching shows that you are an insecure person and by not fixing your posture, it could soon develop into a fixed habit making you do it in every situation that makes you uncomfortable or uneasy making it very easy to read your insecurity. People may also read this as low self-esteem

2 Crossing your legs or arms

Among body language habits to avoid, many people cross their arms or legs when sitting but when you are speaking to someone, you should never do this as it may look self-defensive. It could also come across as an indirect message to the other person that you are not interested to interact with them or hear what they wish to say. It could also be assign that you are uncomfortable in the person’s presence. By uncrossing your arms and legs you come across as more sincere and trustworthy.

3 Fidgeting

No one likes a fidgety person as it is very annoying. Regardless of it being a habit or as a sign of stress, you need to stop fidgeting. By twirling your hair, tapping your fingers or feet, touching your rings, rubbing your hands or keep looking at your watch during a conversation with someone, it is a sign that you are bored and would prefer to be somewhere else.

4 Rubbing your neck

By constantly rubbing your neck, which is something that you may do during times of stress or tension or even if there is nothing that is making you anxious, still you should stop doing it. You need to be aware of your body language and how you are moving your hands because it reveals your feelings, anxiety and discomfort to another person who could read it in a negative way or could take advantage of the situation.
