Although many of us are well acquainted with the laws of the country, you’ll be surprised at how rules are flouted. The weirdest fact about some of these unusual things that are illegal is how illogical they seem and why they would be considered in the first place. However, on the more sinister side, it also proves that there could be some weird people also out there justifying valid reasons for which such rules apply. Here are 9 things which are banned in the US and parts of the world.

1 Wearing armor inside the Houses of Parliament

This rule was actually implemented by King Edward II and has remained in force ever since. The law was made to prevent nobles from threatening violence and impose their own agendas on parliament members.

2 Gambling in a library

Who gambles in a library? Maybe someone did try it one time. In 1898, UK law established the Library Offenses Act banning people from gambling in library for which penalty was a 40 shillings fine. Well, I’m sure the rule hardly needs to be invoked as no one in his right mind would do so.

3 Claiming a whale

You can’t claim a whale, dolphin, sturgeon and porpoise within a 3 mile radius of the British shore and the reason is amusing. All these animals within this area belong to the Queen by default. But one wonders, why not the fish.

4 Bootlegging is banned

It is still technically illegal to transport such items between various states and counties. This law goes back to the days of the American prohibition but who really cares as this is obviously flouted mainly by college students.
