Well, the special someone here is a baby hippo, named Fiona, who has been making news since the time she was born in the Cincinnati Zoo in the month of January this year. Fiona was born almost 6 weeks premature and she was saved by an experienced and a dedicated medical team who worked really hard so that Fiona could live and grow beautifully.

She indeed survived, and it is her surviving spirit only that has made her into an internet sensation. The followers on the Facebook page of the zoo have increased exponentially since her birth. In fact, you would be surprised to know that the posts about her development and growth garner much more likes and comments than any other posts put up by the zoo. Even more interesting is the fact that there is a team that has been given the responsibility of sharing her story with the world through social media. Communications Director of the Zoo, Michelle Curley, who is also a part of that team, says that he has never seen anything like this. According to him, “People have Fionamania.”

Curley has also been entrusted with the task of discovering personality traits of the baby hippo. The zoo officials want to figure out exactly how Fiona became a symbol of body positivity for people. They also want to determine whether they can come out with books and/or movies on Fiona’s life someday.
