10 Famous Game Of Thrones Cameos You Might Have Missed

Game of Thrones might be your favorite fantasy watch, but the show also had some fantastic cameos made by beloved actors and musicians. You obviously know about Ed Sheeran’s cameo as a Lannister guard on the seventh season of GOT, but apart from the Ginger Brit, a whole lot of other musicians and artists have made appearances on the show. From Coldplay drummer to bands like Sigur Ros to Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody, we bet you did not take note of these cameos in your favorite fantasy watch. So, let’s do a quick catch up:

1Coldplay’s Will Champion

Coldplay drummer Will Champion played a drummer on GOT, too. He appeared in the Red Wedding sequence of Season 3 Episode 9, where he was part of the wedding band. Interestingly, he was seen playing on a medieval-style drum during the wedding party. Will Champion was also part of Game of Thrones Red Nose Day Special, where he famously played a set with his bandmates and the GOT cast.

The 39-year-old drummer has been with Coldplay for a very long time. And he had joined the British rock band with almost no experience.

2Mastodon

American heavy metal band Mastodon had an incredible cameo in episode 8 of GOT’s Wildling vs White Walker's battle of Season 5. Members Brann Dailor, Brent Hinds and Bill Kelliher played Walding warriors and fought in the battle against White Walkers. Mastodon also contributed a track to the GOT mixtape with a song was called “White Walker.”

“It was such an incredible experience to be on set as extras for our collective favorite show Game Of Thrones and to be wildlings murdered and then brought back to life by White Walkers was beyond amazing,” Mastodon drummer Brann Dailor told Pitchfork.

Mastodon also appeared for the second time on Season 7 of the show, but this time as White Walkers.

3Joel Fry

English actor and Animal Circus band member Joel Fry had a lengthy cameo in GOT. The 33-year-old star played Hizdahr zo Loraq, a slave trader from Meereen, but he was killed off in the fifth season of the show. Hizdahr was betrothed to Khaleesi Daenerys Targaryen but never married her.

Interestingly, in GOT the show, Hizdahr is stabbed to death by a group of extremist killers, called the Sons of Harpy, in a fighting pit. But in the books, Hizdahr is alive but imprisoned.
