Patti Hearst granddaughter of American publishing magnate William Randolph Hearst was kidnapped by the leftist terrorist group the Symbionese Liberation Army in 1974. She was only 19 at the time and held captive for 19 months during which she was brainwashed into joining her abductors in crime. She even took part in a bank robbery and went on to become the country’s most wanted fugitive. She was eventually arrested but given a pardon later.

3 Meenakshi Thapar, a crime that shocked Bollywood

The Meenakshi Thapar incident gained global coverage when the Bollywood actress was kidnapped by a minor actor and his girlfriend who thought she was rich enough to arrange a ransom. When they found Meenakshi wasn’t exactly the wealthy socialite she projected herself to be as was her habit, they strangled her to death. They then decapitated her body and threw her head out of a moving bus. Her body was found in a water tank.

Cordelia Gonzalez the Puerto Rican actress was kidnapped at gun point from a parking lot in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Her Kidnappers then proceeded to an ATM where they made her withdraw a huge sum of cash. They then took her to her house where they robbed several items including phones, computers, money and jewelry as well as her car. She was released after a few hours.

1 Veruska Ramirez kidnapped for an Autograph

Among celebrities who were kidnapped, the former Miss Venezuela was kidnapped for three hours in 2003. Her abductors did not harm her but robbed her of her belongings which included a box of calendars that portrayed Veruska in the nude. The kidnappers did not leave that and even made her sign every single one before releasing her in the street. Somehow they did not realize who they had kidnapped until they saw the calendars.
