Hollywood and the celebrity life isn’t always a bed of rose. It can be ruthless especially for celebrities who fall prey to a fast-paced life and a desire of wanting more. Ultimately, the choice of poor lifestyles, overindulgence and bad luck with careers drive them down a lonely and narrow road of depression and addiction. Perhaps not all fall prey to booze and drugs but depression and lack of finance form failed careers are a harsh reality leading to poverty. Till now you have heard about celebrities who were homeless and became multi-millionaires but this is just the opposite. Here are 15 celebrities who became homeless instead.

1Sly Stone

Sly Stone was a big name in music at one point of time as the lead of the funk band Sly Stone and the Family Stone that was legend in their time. Sly owned multiple houses including a vineyard in the Napa Valley. Today Sly Stone lives on the streets of LA and out of a van instead. Stone’s poor lifestyle mixed with addiction has led him to his present state where he says he prefers not living in a stationary home. He still likes writing music though.

2John Drew Barrymore

John Drew Barrymore is none other than the father of Actress Drew Barry Barrymore. He is also the son of equally famous actor John Barrymore. Like his daughter, John too took to drug and alcohol addiction after he gave up acting. He would repeatedly disappear for several months at a time and was also jailed a number of times for drunkenness and drug abuse. He died of cancer in 2004.

3Bobby Driscoll

As one of Disney’s biggest child stars, Bobby Driscoll was always the voice of the animated classic Peter Pan and went on to win a Juvenile Academy Award in 1950. However, as a teenager, he slipped into a life of drugs as an escape route to come to terms with the fact that he wasn’t a star anymore. He was seen wandering the streets of New York. He died a pauper while staying at a deserted village in East Village apartment block at the age of 31.

4Margot Kidder

You saw her as Lois Lane in the first Superman movies opposite Christopher Reeves. But since then Margot Kidder has never had any good substantial movie roles. A car accident in 1990 left her unable to work after which she became bankrupt. She was homeless and slept in cardboard boxes in backyards till she was discovered by a Glendale resident who barely recognized her. She is now living in Montana.

5Sugar Ray Williams

He was a basketball star in the 70’s and 80’s and was also the captain of the New York Knicks. After retirement, Williams fell on hard times and became bankrupt losing his home and his family. He worked in menial jobs like groundskeeper at a golf course and as a maintenance man in a New York apartment building. By 2010 he was out of a job and living in his car in Florida. He died of colon cancer in 2013.
