6Prettiest Ankle Contest

It looks like the obsession with women’s ankles was at a high in the 1930s. This picture is from 1933 and this is the Prettiest Ankle Contest. The idea is similar to the previous one and judges choose the prettiest ankle based on the ankle only. The rest of the body is covered.

7Beautiful Legs Contest

This picture is from 1949 and the contest is to judge legs. The women are made to wear masks so that the judges judge them only on the basis of their legs. All we can say is back then too, people were just as obsessed with beauty and objectifying women as today.

8Why so obsessed with legs?

This may look funny and scary but it is a still from a beauty contest in the 1950s. Women are wearing masks again so that the judgment is based only on the legs and not the face. The obsession with legs has passed on to this generation as well, just like every other generation before it.
9Perfect Back Contest

Talking about objectifying women, here is another example. People are still obsessed with women’s ‘backs’ and even in 1930, as this picture shows, ‘backs’ were important. We don’t know what scientific experiment is going on and what that man is trying to measure to do with that machine, but we are glad that these things don’t happen anymore.

10The Sausage Queen

This picture is taken around 1995 and we just want to know who came up with this. A beauty contest was held to declare someone ‘Sausage Queen’? We wonder why someone would want to be called Sausage Queen and pose with sausages unless they were getting a free supply of sausages for their whole lives!
