The Avengers films have scored billions of dollars in the last ten years. From Iron Man 2 to Infinity War, it has been a long journey and 19 films later, we bet you still know precious little about the franchise. For instance, do you know the real stars of the movies? You will say it’s Robert Downey Junior, Chris Hemsworth, Chadwick Boseman and so on. But you probably forgot that they do not do their own action sequences.
The stunt doubles in the MCU movies who make the superheroes look realistic by falling from skyscrapers and hanging from the spaceships are the people we need to talk about. Would Thor really be believable if he didn’t fly with his hammer? Would Black Panther make a good impression if he didn’t defeat M’Baku? An entire franchise stands on the shoulders of the stunt doubles, and it’s time we pay attention to them.
1Chris Hemsworth and his stunt double Bobby Holland

Here’s God of Thunder Thor with his stunt double Bobby Holland, and Bobby looks almost identical to the Australian actor. Here they both are seen in the Rune Thor attire, which required Thor to lose an eye, much like his father Odin. Both Chris and Bobby look quite messed up with the punctured eyes, and here they are most likely on the sets of Thor: Ragnarok, the film where Thor lost his eye. Bobby has also played stunt double in the Mission Impossible films, starring Tom Cruise.

2Sebastian Stan and his stunt double James Young

Sebastian who plays the Winter Soldier Bucky in the Avenger movies has a terrific stunt double. Bucky’s character got more and more fiercer as the franchise progressed. In Infinity War, he has had to perform some pretty heavy stunts. Well, not him technically. It was his stunt double James. In the picture they are in signature Bucky attire and you can’t really see their faces. But Sebastian and James are often seen hanging out on the sets.

3Anthony Mackie and his stunt double Aaron Toney

Falcon aka Anthony Mackie has to spend a lot of time in the dressing room, probably more than the other Avengers, courtesy his elaborate armour. Which also means his stunt double has to spend the same amount of time getting fitted. Aaron has a pretty impressive resume. He has not only worked in MCU movies like Ant-Man and Captain America, he has also worked on Pirates of the Caribbean and Transformers.

4Mark Ruffalo and his stunt double Anthony Molinari

Mark and Anthony could just be twins because we can’t tell them apart. Anthony is a stunt double to Bruce Banner and not Hulk. Hulk is Dr Bruce Banner’s alter ego, and the real Avenger. Since Hulk is all CGI and in the MCU Bruce never really performs any heavy-duty action, and since he is a scientist, his double Anthony does not really have to rough it up for the green screens.

5Andrew Garfield and his stunt double William Spencer

Andrew Garfield is not Spider-Man anymore and technically, though his Spidey never made it to the Avengers, he did leave quite an impression on the audiences. But since he is no longer Spidey and is not a part of the MCU, his stunt double is also no longer a part of the franchise. But you have to admit how similar they look. But since Spidey is different now, we guess his stunt double is different too.
