The Village Where No Woman Has Given Birth In 400 Years

6Has the curse ever been tested

The villagers in the area are very scared to test out the curse as they do not know for sure if that curse really works. But the superstition is pretty strong with the area and not only are they bound to it, but it has now become a part of their culture. Considering their faith is 400-years-old it would be demeaning to question it.

7What happened?

A few times when women were actually allowed to give birth in the village area, terrible things happened. People confirmed that when some accidental births did take place in the village, the child either died or was deformed. This obviously made the villagers a lot more scared and reaffirmed their fears.

8The real problem

The biggest issue with the situation is that the villagers deny that it is just a superstition, and the curse has made its way into their minds as a deep-seated fear. Any questioning of that faith would probably irk them as they think they have proof about the curse.

9The other rules

A proof of how affected these villagers are lies in their lifestyle. Do you know that the villagers have also given up meat and alcohol and don’t indulge in any luxuries as they believe this would bring them harm? That’s how scared they are of the so-called curse.

10The good thing

You might say that isn’t it a good thing that women are now taken to hospitals for medical issues and are not treated at home? That’s true, hospital deliveries are of course a lot safer than home deliveries. In fact, this is one of the main issues in most Indian villages, that people are seldom taken to hospitals for medical emergencies.
