Maria Jones Elliot calls her daughters two little miracles. Amy was born weighing just 1lbs 3 oz but soon after she was born, Maria’s contractions stopped. Doctors then decided it would be risky to deliver Katie by other means and felt she would be safer inside the womb. She was born 87 days later on August 27 and weighed a healthy 5 lbs 10 Oz.

These weren’t twins born a year apart, they were a whole 87 days apart and it was a traumatic ordeal for Maria who described how Amy fought for her life in an incubator while Katie struggled inside her womb. 'Usually, you experience nothing but joy at the birth of a new baby, but it was so achingly bittersweet as both of their lives hung in the balance.” She and her husband Chris described it as the hardest 3 months of their lives but they also believed that where there’s life, there’s hope!!
