8 Helps your body in fighting against cancer

Wouldn't it be great if drinking tea could help your body fight cancer? Compounds in the salvia plant that fight cancer include camphor and carnosol. Studies have shown that carnosol can kill cancer cells without hurting the healthy cells in the body.

A study observed the cancer risks of 500 people who drank this tea and chamomile tea. However, they found that it was highly beneficial for thyroid malignancies and even stopped genetic changes common in colon cancer.

Women who are pregnant often complain of feeling sick. But tea made from the Salvia plant has been shown to help people who feel sick. In countries in the Middle East, women often use this herb to stop making as much breastmilk. They found that its benefits can be used both before and after giving birth. But women who are pregnant or taking any kind of medicine should talk to their doctor before trying herbal teas.

Things to think about when using herbal teas

Even though herbs are safer than prescription drugs, there are still some things to think about before you use them. For example, Salvia has a chemical called thujone in it. Even though it's safe in small amounts, it can be dangerous in larger amounts.

Large amounts of any kind of tea can hurt the kidneys and cause seizures. The problem is that you get a lot of thujone when you consume more than the average amount. When you drink a lot of tea in 24 hours, thujone can make you sick, so you shouldn't drink more than four cups per day. Sage oil is not the same as the dried leaves, so never put it in your tea.
