Lyuda went looking for her mother, who had not been named in the stories, as she went to talk to a neighbour. Lyuda’s elder also went along with her mother. Lyuda, who was playing in the garden, noticed them going and tried to tag along. The youngster tried to catch up with them, but unfortunately, she grew disoriented and wandered into the forest until she lost track of them and her way back.

Rescue parties were sent out to search for her, but there were no signs of Lyuda Kuzina, who had gone missing from her garden in Obninsk, Russia’s Smolensky area. Until the time she was rescued, she had spent three nights on her own out in a Russian wilderness filled with bears and wolves. The very fact that she managed to survive for 3 days alone is a miracle indeed.

Rescuers in the Smolensk area of Russia had been searching for the girl in Obninsk for 500 hours when she was found alive. Finally, Lyuda, the nuclear physicist’s 22-month-old daughter, was found in the dense woodland about two and a half miles from her house. This incident follows the death of a Russian woman by a bear in Sverdlovsk after she wandered off from a wedding reception. So, people were clinging to hopes of finding her alive and unscathed. Luckily, their hopes turned into reality when she was found safe but weakened!
