The world is full of miracles and every once in a while something happens that goes against everything we’ve learnt and that medical science has recorded. EverTagsTagsyone knows what the function of the brain is. It is essentially the control room of the body, giving directions to body parts, controlling hormones, helping learning, memory, speech, etc. so how can one survive without a brain?
Today we’re going to read about a boy who stunned doctors and medical professionals with his surprising medical condition. This little boy was born in 2012, without a brain. He developed a rare condition while in the womb which destroyed 98% of his brain. Essentially, the cerebrum was missing due to a disfigurement in the vertebral section.

Doctors believed that the baby would not be able to survive as there was no way in which the body could sustain itself without direction from the brain. However, the little boy surprised everyone by surviving and being sufficiently competent. Though he is confined to a wheelchair and still faces numerous health problems, he has managed to grow and learn, surprising a lot of people.

Born in 2012 to parents Shelly(44) and father Rob (50), Noah Wall was the miracle boy who lived despite all the doctors saying otherwise. While in the womb Noah developed “Spina bifida” and “Hydrocephalus” that caused fluid build-up in his skull which essentially prevented the development of his brain to full capacity. According to doctors Noah was born with only 2% of his brain and was unlikely to live.

Parents Shelly and Rob were prepared for the worst and had even picked out a coffin but Noah defied all odds and lived. During the pregnancy like any mother, Shelly got tests done to know the condition of her child. This is when the doctors realized Noah’s condition.
She was asked on multiple times to terminate her pregnancy, but she decided to give birth to her baby, no matter what it would lead to. The couple refused to go through an abortion.
The doctors were unable to do anything while Noah was in the womb and feared the worst when he would eventually come out. As predicted the condition left Noah with less than 2% grey matter in his brain after birth. The doctors even said that if Noah would survive, he would be severely disabled in many ways.

Noah’s brain is slowly developing from whatever it has left. The four-year-old boy goes to school and can count to 10, read and talk. He can even use a pen. His Spina Bifida left him paralyzed from the chest down. He has overcome several challenges already. Little Noah wants to become a firefighter when he grows up.

Currently, he cannot walk and is confined to a wheelchair.
The sad part is that Noah would not have been here if Shelly and Rob had heeded the advice of their first doctor, who made them believe that Noah’s life would not be worth living and tried to get them to terminate the pregnancy. However, his parents refused and today Noah is thriving and happy.
Doctors are studying Noah’s brain to learn more about spina bfida, so that this knowledge can help other people too.
This boy is not just an example of what determination is, but is also proof that we must never give up.
