9Scotchgard - Patsy Sherman

Patsy Sherman was an American scientist at the time when there were a very few female chemists. She accidentally became the co-inventor of Scotchgard while working in the laboratory. She was given a responsibility to develop a rubber material that would prevent damage from jet aircraft fuels. She accidentally spilled the fluorochemical rubber on an assistant’s shoe and later they found out the stain on the shoe repelled water and oil.

10The windscreen Wiper- Mary Anderson

In 1903, when she visited New Fork she noticed that her driver had to open the window to clear the snow from the windscreen. It was both inconvenient and dangerous and she wanted to come up with an idea to solve the issue. Later in 1903, she invented windscreen wiper. It was indeed a great idea but at that time car companies didn’t believe her idea and she was never profited.
