Under the fifth amendment of the US constitution no "no person shall... be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb.” An Alabama death row convict was put in a prime position to invoke the clause of double jeopardy because his experience was a macabre one where his execution was totally botched up by those trying to attempt to execute him for over 2 hours.
