Washing family cloth in the laundry using proper detergent and sunning out to dry is, of course, one way to ensure no germs linger on in them. One can also use a disinfectant in the rinsing phase. Family cloth is projected as a zero waste product free from chemicals.

Family cloth obviously will save a lot of money but it is the toxic free factor that is being advocated as the biggest benefit of family cloth. Recycled toilet paper has been found to contain BPA and BPS. Most toilet paper is bleached and that is going to the most sensitive parts of the body.

It would be more sensible to ditch your expensive baby wipes that may contain chemicals. Instead, soft family cloth would be a good idea where you can use a sealed bag or container to keep the soiled cloths till you wash them. The cloth should be washed with detergent in warm water and this could be done on your washing machine. Washing your baby’s behind with a soft warm wet cloth is of course much nicer than a paper wipe.
