Even though it’s April, don’t go putting away your woolens as you might just need them again. It sounds a real bummer that the prolonged winter shows no signs of abating and even in countries like the UK; it is still snowing all because of weather anomalies this year.

1Record cold this weekend from April 6th – 9th but will continue into second week

Record cold was forecasted for the last weekend from Montana to Wisconsin, even as far as Oklahoma with temperatures resembling January rather than April. The cold and snowfall is expected to continue into the second week of April.

2An arctic outbreak because of the Polar vortex in the Atlantic

Weaker channels are calling the freakish cold a “ridiculous late season arctic outbreak” and there are also warnings of a possible freeze right into the Deep South. The National weather service has forecasted temperatures, 30 degrees below normal in the Northern and central plains where high temperatures will range up to 10-20 degrees below normal. Adding to the misery will be winds that are below zero. Montana has even issued a cold advisory for baby livestock fearing the animals won’t adapt to the cold.

3Friday the 13th expected to bring cyclonic weather and more snow

Get ready for a wave of cold weather to spread over the USA all because of the Polar Vortex that has been moving across the Atlantic. The worst hit will be the Northeast and Midwest US where record-breaking weather expected to sweep across the country again till April 13th or later.

St Cloud, Madison, Wisconsin and Minnesota got the brunt of this week’s snowstorm where St Cloud reported record lows at this time of the year with temperatures of 0 degrees. Minneapolis has also been breaking cold records where parts of the Twin Cities had snow of around 7 – 12 inches that made it the heaviest April snow in 134 years. Twin cities weather read 0 degrees today April 8th with Minneapolis hitting -5 degrees with two hours of snow.

5Washington DC and Boston to have temperatures lower than normal

Minneapolis continued breaking records with April 6th the coldest day in 154 years according to according to Ryan Maue, Atlanta Bureau Chief for weather, US, the cold is being produced by the Polar Vortex which may die down as it moves east and south but is expected to drop temperatures in Washington DC, and Boston that will see 10-30 degrees below normal.
