Getting successful, famous and rich at an early age is like a dream for a number of people and there are many who have achieved it too. However, the most important part is to make sure that success doesn’t get over the head as the youngsters are more prone to take the wrong path.

Sometimes, they are not able to handle the work pressure and resort to harmful methods such as taking substances or consuming alcohol to overcome the stress.

There have been many celebrities who got famous early in their lives but later on made some mistakes and ended up behind the bars. Here we have listed 11 of them:

1 Jamie Waylett

Early career

Jamie played the role of Vincent Crabbe in the Harry Potter series and he was among the close friends of Draco Malfoy. If you haven’t noticed, let us tell you that he was not a part of the 7th and 8th movie of the franchise as at that time, he was dealing with legal problems.

Legal issues

In 2011, police arrested Jamie because he participated in the London riots and was booked for violent disorder as petrol bomb was found in his possession. Previously, he was also booked for growing marijuana at his residence. Who had thought that the cute fat boy from the Harry Potter series will be like this in real life?

2Edward Furlong

Early career

Edward became a star after he acted along with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the movie Terminator 2: Judgment Day. He was further praised for his work in American History X, Before and After and American Heart but then it seems as if things did not go well in his life.

This is what went wrong

Edward entered into a live-in relationship with his 26 years old tutor while he was just 13 at that time. His guardians tried to sue the woman for rape when the law regarding the rape changed but she in return alleged rude behavior and got away with rape charges. Later on, the actor got addicted to substances for which he also went to rehab. He was sent in prison after he attacked his former wife and nowadays he is seen doing small roles as he has to pay for child support.

3Lindsay Lohan

Future looked promising

She seemed to have a great career after her debut with The Parent Trap in 1988 when she was just 12 years old. Lindsay worked in some other successful movies such as Freaky Friday and Mean Girls. But soon, she was not able to handle success and was sent to jail on more than one occasion.

Here is what went wrong

Lindsay was arrested in 2007 for DUI, just 2 months before she was turning 21. She was later detained again for a DUI and for having substance. She increased her legal problems by not attending court hearings and later on she was sent to jail for stealing a necklace in 2011.

4Amanda Bynes

A dream career

Amanda was also one of the most promising young actresses to look for as she impressed everyone as a child artist with her shows on Nickelodeon. In fact, people were pretty hopeful about her as she managed her success beautifully at a time when Britney and Lindsay were in headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Decline in mental health

However, in 2012, she was arrested for the first time for DUI and later she was also detained for starting a fire in somebody’s driveway. She was found mentally ill and got admitted to a mental hospital. It is also being said that she is fine now and may make a comeback in 2018.

5Macaulay Culkin

The boy from Home Alone

Who can forget the cute little boy from the movie Home Alone, the role for which Macaulay got a Golden Globe nomination for his performance. However, at the age of 14, he took a break from movies and remained out of public view for the next nine years.

When he returned

When Macaulay returned he was no longer the cute boy whom audiences had fallen in love with. In 2004, he was detained by the police as he possessed marijuana and two other banned substances. He was in the jail of Oklahoma for quite some time and it ended up for him with a suspended sentence as he pleaded guilty.

6Dana Plato

Early days

She played the character of Kimberly in the Diff’rent Strokes from 1978 to 1986. The character was written-off as she became pregnant and her career never went uphill from here. Even though she made an attempt to continue her acting career, she could not succeed.

She lived the life of a poor person in Los Angeles after her divorce and got arrested when she tried to rob a video store using a pellet gun. Later she was taken into custody for forging subscriptions for valium. Her drug addiction grew so much that in 1999, she overdosed and left the world.

7Tatum O’Neal

Most successful child artist

There is no denying the fact that she is the most successful child artist till date as she is the youngest to win an Academy Award. She won it at the age of 10 for her performance in “Paper Moon”, a movie in which her father Ryan O’Neal also acted. She was a part of some big movies after that as well.

Drug addiction

At the age of 34 in the year 2008, Tatum O’Neal was taken into custody for purchasing crack cocaine. She accepted that she had been addicted to drugs since her childhood. However, the good thing was that she was sentenced to a drug treatment program by the court.

8Brad Renfro

Early career

Brad started appearing in Hollywood movies when he was just 11. He made his debut with The Client, alongside Susan Sarandon and Tommy Lee Jones and by the time he was 25, he had acted in 21 movies. He became a star at a young age but not everything was going right for him.

Drug addiction

Police arrested him for the first time when he was 15 for keeping substances with him. His age helped him in remaining out of jail but after 2 years, he was taken into custody for stealing a yacht. In 2005, he was again detained during a raid but in 2008, he lost his life due to a drug overdose.

9Todd Bridges

Early career

Todd Bridges was also a part of the sitcom “Diff’rent Strokes” and he also faced problems in young age. He was seen in the show at the age of 13, three years after the start of his career but by the age of 20, he was in deep legal trouble.

Legal charges

Todd was detained by the police in 1989 on the charges of making an attempt to take the life of a drug dealer whose name was Kenneth Clay. Police was sure that it was Todd who shot him but the young actor was released of the charge when an eye-witness claimed that Todd was not present at the crime location at the time of crime.

10Brian Bonsall, Early career

Brian is an American musician, singer, guitarist and a former child artist who is mostly known for being a part of the sitcom Family Ties (1986-1989) and for his role in Star Trek: The Next Generation. He won three Young Artist Awards for his performance in the series. However, in 1995, he retired from acting.

Retired as an actor

He grew up to be a musician and rockstar and had no intentions of returning to acting. In 2007, he was taken into custody by the police for hitting his girlfriend and was sent on probation for 2 years. In 2009 again, he was arrested and this time it was for third-degree hit and not appearing in court with regard to the previous case. Later in 2010 also, he was detained for using marijuana.

11Dustin Diamond, Very good career

Remember Screech from TV sitcom Saved by the Bell? Dustin played that role for almost 13 years. After the serial ended, he started doing stand-up comedy and toured a lot. He was also seen om game and reality shows after that and did some guest appearances in movies as well.

Now that is something no one expected from him

He had many issues when it was about his taxes but he committed the biggest crime in 2014. Once while at a bar, he stabbed a man with a switchblade during a fight. He was booked for carrying a concealed weapon and irresponsible behavior and was sent for four months prison. He was released on probation after serving three months of prison.
