Given the amount of people with their bizarre fetishes, incidents where women or men marry gods, trees, their pets and even ghosts are common. However, one woman in carrying out her own weird fantasy of marriage went one step ahead and was adventurous enough to marry the ghost of a pirate. Yes, this woman married a pirate’s ghost or so she says.
Amanda Teague, 45 from Drogheda didn’t really care about the age difference and what society would say to marrying a pirate, well she wasn’t exactly marrying a live one, and it was none other than the ghost of notorious pirate Jack Teague who would now be 300 years old. Teague says the marriage is just like any other union. That’s weird unless of course, this is an emotional bond bred out of her fascination with pirates.

Amanda Teague from Ireland even made news headlines last week when she revealed that she married the Haitian pirate who would be 300 years old by now. Incidentally, Amanda is fascinated with pirates and even works as a Jack Sparrow impersonator.

Amanda Teague was originally Amanda Large but in 2015, when she began impersonating the lovable pirate Captain Jack Sparrow, the fictional pirate character from the movie Pirates of the Caribbean, she named herself Amanda Large Sparrow. After marrying the pirate’s ghost, she became Amanda large Sparrow Teague.
Jack Teague was the Haitian pirate existing in the early 18th century and was executed for piracy. In an interview with the Irish Sun where she claimed she also had satisfying physical intimacy with the Ghost. She said “'Some people are saying I'm a nutjob but obviously anyone who knows me has a different view. I'm not airy-fairy at all'

Amanda from Drogheda, CO, Louth in Ireland claims they met in 2014 when she suddenly found the spirit of the pirate beside her as she lay in bed. She also said that the ghost looked exactly like the pirates of the Caribbean character played by Johnny Depp (do we hear a faint hint of obsessive hallucinations here).

Amanda says “He is black, so he is not the same color as Johnny Depp. But he is dark skinned and has very dark jet-black hair, so he tells me.”
Amanda was smitten with the pirate and fell in love with him. She even went as far as saying that the ghost or Jack as she calls him is powerful enough to turn on lights or get the stereo to play itself. After Amanda gave him an ultimatum, the ghost proposed to her. “I told him I wasn’t really cool with having casual sex with a spirit and I wanted us to make a proper commitment to each other.
“If I am going to be in a long-term relationship with somebody I have the right to be married.

The couple was married by a shaman priest in a boat off the Irish coast in international waters to make the wedding legal. She also hired a registrar to attend the ceremony. As marriages to dead people in some countries like China and France are legal, Amanda decided to get the ceremony performed in international waters to avoid legal issues in Ireland.

The shaman acted as a medium to enable the spirit to say “I do”. The ghost of captain Teague was represented by a banner with the skull and crossbones. The couple also had matching rings made for the ceremony.

According to Teague, she is the first person in the UK to marry a ghost and now she is also in the process of writing a book with the ghost’s help so that other men or women will be inspired to carry out their own wishes of marrying ghosts.
The marriage, however, is not recognized by Irish law even though Amanda says she followed all legal procedures to the letter.

The wedding party was attended by family and friends lending the support to Amanda. The couple went for a holiday to Northern Island for their honeymoon and even purchased a home with Amanda’s money of course. Perhaps in time, he may tell her where he has al his treasure buried and that would turn her into a millionaire.

Amanda is a divorcee and has five kids from her previous marriage and believe this or not, she claimed that after physical relations with the ghost, her periods stopped and a pregnancy test showed up positive. “I was shocked! I did not think I had to worry about birth control when having sex with a spirit.
“On further tests, it turns out it was the start of the menopause, and sometimes you can get high HPG readings — what a relief that was.”

Amanda even goes out to dinner and movies with her husband. Well, you can imagine the situation when others find a woman speaking to an invisible entity in a cinema hall and restaurant. She says “I can order Jack a drink and allow him to feel it through me, or he can taste my food.”

She says her family and friends were very supportive and have accepted her spiritual relationship. Jack is now a member of the family. Amanda says at Christmas jack communicates through one of her daughters to find out what she wants a gift. Although her daughter isn’t a medium, she says the girl has premonitions and dreams at occasions only of jack and he will tell her what he wants to get Amanda for Christmas or her birthday.

For all Amanda’s claims, there is no real information of Jack Teague actually existed and if you do come up with something we would be really happy to comment below. The only reference to Jack Teague is the pirate’s wikia which details the fictitious family of Captain Jack Sparrow, the character from the popular movie The Pirates of the Caribbean. Jack or Edward Teague is Jack Sparrow’s father and a legendary pirate in his own right. He was part of the brethren court and later became the keeper of the pirate’s code.

The biggest mystery about this woman marrying a pirate’s ghost is this!! It is weird for some to marry people who physically don’t exist; this could well be the case of someone marrying a ghost who doesn’t exist or rather the ghost of someone who never even existed.
