You know you’re pregnant when your periods stop (although that isn’t always the case but one of them); you soon get a baby bump and of course a baby. But what happens when you have none of these symptoms and after a few months, you’re told you’re pregnant with an actual baby growing inside you. Not an alien.
Charlotte Thompson, a party-loving teenager from Newcastle and now 21 got the biggest shock of her life when she was told she was pregnant not after a month or two but just before she went into labour which she thought was a stomach upset. She was having regular periods and also fitting comfortably into her size 8 clothes. How on earth she was about to deliver a baby shocked her beyond words as she listened to the doctors in disbelief.

Charlotte Thomson was rudely woken up one night with excruciating stomach pain. After she was rushed to the hospital. Doctors surprised everyone by revealing she was in labor. Even more amazing was the fact that she gave birth to a girl three hours after the labor pains. She named the girl Molly. The weird thing about all this was that even Nurses observed how her stomach was flat “my stomach was completely flat, and I’d been having regular periods so it was such a shock when I found out. ‘I didn’t believe that I was actually pregnant until I gave birth.

Usually, when a woman is pregnant, the first indication is a missed period. After three months, a baby bump is definitely visible and starts growing. However, Charlotte Thomson 21 didn’t face any of these things and one wonders how was this possible.

Charlotte who lives in Newcastle upon Tyne in England even says that she fitted comfortably in her size 8 dresses so there was no inkling of her being pregnant. Neither did she face any telltale signs like nausea or morning sickness.

In November 2015, Charlotte then 19 found that she had gained a bit of weight, 3 pounds to be precise. She also felt a bit fatigued and tired which she blamed on her constant partying. But this wasn’t the start of her pregnancy because these symptoms manifested in the last stages of it. This is a photo of when she was six months pregnant.

One month later in December, Charlotte woke up with severe stomach pain. Even medicine didn’t relieve it. She ran to the toilet thinking she may be sick as she started feeling nauseous. Instead, she found her underwear soaked with blood. This gave her a huge fright. The nausea instead of occurring in the first stage of pregnancy was showing up now when it was time for labor.

Charlotte then didn’t bother to think or call anyone. She immediately caught a cab and rushed to the hospital. Charlotte was admitted as an emergency case to the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care hospital where she was given an ultrasound. It was then that she heard the news that most probably shocked and amazed her. Perhaps those words would be an understatement for any woman finding out she is pregnant, she may have been speechless for a few minutes and dumbfounded too.

Charlotte panicked upon hearing the news. After all, which woman would be prepared to hear something like that? She had made no preparations, had not baby clothes and neither had she been given the medication schedule required in pregnancy. But that was it!! The moment had arrived.

Charlotte was also scared wondering what if her parents found out. Well! Her parents suspected she had just had a miscarriage after being two or three months pregnant. But after hearing the news and getting over the initial shock, they were supportive and excited at the thought of becoming grandparents.

The fact that Charlotte had no idea she was pregnant and the constant partying and drinking led her to believe that there may be complications. Doctors instead revealed that her baby was miraculously a healthy one.

The baby was lying tucked beneath her ribs. Two hours later, Charlotte gave birth to a healthy baby girl weighing 6 lbs 15 oz. She named her Molly. ‘As soon as I held Molly, I loved her so much,’ said Charlotte. ‘She was perfect and we had an instant bond.’
Today Molly is two years old. Charlotte says she was scared at first but seeing Molly, she feels that she was worth the sacrifice and she is now a proud mother of her little baby girl.

Molly was healthy in spite of Charlotte’s lifestyle of partying and drinking. But! This shouldn’t inspire anyone to do the same. She also says how her colleagues at work were gobsmacked when given the news because s a few days earlier, they had seen Charlotte with no baby bump at all. They only believed it after seeing photos of Molly.
