The mythical city of Atlantis has interested many people including people of science for many years. Mentioned 2000 years ago in works of Plato, Atlantis was one of the greatest cities ever to be present, but it sunk in the sea in just one day and night and has not being found ever since. 15 years ago, explorers found a sunken city with huge monuments near coast of Cuba and people speculate if the lost city of Atlantis is found? Read and decide for yourself.
Pauline Zalitzki, a marine engineer, and her husband Paul Weinzweig, owners of a Canadian company called Advanced Digital Communications discovered a lost city underwater just near Cuba in 2001. The complete structures cover an area of 2sq km and are at the depths of between 600m to 750m. Pauline and Paul were working on an exploration mission with Cuban government and the team along with some local divers had to come back in order to take pictures using a video robot that sued sonar imaging to captures many pictures. The international media speculated whether it was the famed lost city of Atlantis or not. The pictures were sent to marine geologist Manuel Iturralde for inspection.

Atlantis was first described by the great philosopher Plato in his works Timaeus and Critias over 2000 years ago. According to him, Atlantis was an island that was the most powerful city in sea at that time and it was bigger than the Asia Minor and Libya both put together. By 9600 BC it had conquered much of Europe and Africa, but a failed mission to invade Athens caused the island to sink in the sea in just a single day and night of misfortune. Though most of people believe that this entire thing is a work of fiction, many people still believe it to be true and constantly strive to find it and all the gold and treasures that went down with Atlantis.

The submerged complex is said to be over 200,000 years old and the city features huge pyramid like structures built of granite. The roads and other monuments in the city are built of granite and one eerie fact is that the sunken city is very close to the Bermuda Triangle which is also known as Devil’s Triangle and is responsible for disappearances of many planes and ships. Manuel Iturralde, who is a specialist in underwater archaeology at Florida State University said that after analysis on the stones and other things brought from the site, he concluded that the whole structure and monuments and the city is pretty bizarre. According to him, it would have taken 50,000 years for the city to have sunk completely. He said, "It would be cool if they were right, but it would be real advanced for anything we would see in the New World for that time frame. The structures are out of time and out of place."
Many other experts have speculated that this place was built by extraterrestrials as human of that time lacked the expertise to built something of this magnitude, before the times of even Egyptian pyramids.
