Every country needs a strong army to safeguard its interest and to fight against its enemies. However, with the increasing risk of anti-social elements and their activities, each country has formed its Special Forces which are trained to conduct the most difficult missions.

The members of Special Forces are chosen from the army or police, but their training is tougher and the selection percentage is very low. In simple words, they are the toughest soldiers who are capable of taking on any enemy, no matter how strong and powerful it may be, in any type of situation.

Here are 15 of the toughest soldiers of Special Forces of different countries and their uniforms:

1 British SAS

The Special Air Service (SAS) of England is one of the most famous and strong special units of the world and only the best candidate of the lot is selected in the team. They are sent only for those operations which are highly difficult and their motto is “Who dares wins”.

2France Special Force Commandos

These commandos are playing an important role in restoring peace and building trust after the recent attacks that took place in the country. In the changing scenario, there may be little change in the recruitment process as until now, these commandos were recruited only from the military but now the civilians may also be recruited in order to diversify the talent pool.

3New Zealand SAS

New Zealand Special Air Services is the Special Forces unit of New Zealand army and as per the government, it is the "premier combat unit of the New Zealand Defence Force". Its main duties are to carry out operations against anti-social elements and overseas special operations and also to save the country from any type of chemical, radiological, biological and nuclear attacks.

4US Army Special Forces

They are also known as Green Berets because of their unique headgears and they have five primary missions to carry on - unconventional warfare, which is their most important duty, foreign internal defense, special reconnaissance, direct action, etc. Most of their operational techniques are classified and they are highly effective in their functioning.

5Danish Special Forces unit Frogman Corps

They serve as the elite special forces of Denmark and are highly trained for the operations in water because of which they are also given the name of Frogman. They are superb on land as well but they are just mind-blowing when it comes to hijacking ships or maritime vehicles. They wear a special net on their helmet for camouflage purposes.

6Alpha Group

Spetsgruppa "A" which is also known as Alpha Group was created in 1974 and serves as a stand-alone sub-unit of Russian Special Forces. This force is dedicated to combat anti-social elements especially those taking place in public transportation and buildings. It is also used for paramilitary operations and secret operations.

7Scout Ranger Regiment

The Scout Rangers which are officially known as First Scout Ranger Regiment is a unit which comes under Philippine Army Special Operations Command. The scout rangers are among the best in the world when it comes to anti-guerilla jungle operations, ambushes, close quarter combat and sabotage. The unit has been modeled on the lines of American Alamo Scouts and US Army Rangers.

8SayeretMatkal

SayeretMatkal or General Staff Reconnaissance Unit or Unit 269 is an elite force which serves under the Israel Defense Forces. Other than gathering intelligence, the main task of SayeretMatkal is to handle anti-social operations and hostage rescue operations beyond the borders of Israel. This unit can be called Israeli version of America’s Delta Force.

9Special Services Group

This is the main special operations force of Pakistani army which is headquartered at Tarbela cantonment. This is one of the largest groups of Special Forces in the world. It has 8 battalions and in each of them, there are 700 personnel. To enter this elite group, the candidate has to undergo a rigorous training session.

10Marcos

Marcos is short for marine commandos and it was earlier known as Marine Commando Force. It is a Special Forces unit of Indian Navy and it is highly trained for maritime operations. The anti-social elements are afraid of Marcos and call them “Dadiwala fauj” which means “Bearded Army”. Nothing much is known about Marcos as everything about them has been kept under wraps but the manner in which it has conducted various operations, it has gained a place in the list of world’s best Special Forces.

11707th Special Mission Battalion

The 707th Special Mission Battalion came into existence after the Munich massacre as the South Korean government wanted a unit to counter anti-social elements considering the fact that 1988 Olympics were scheduled to take place in South Korea. It is the primary force of South Korea against such anti-social elements which can react quickly if any such activity takes place on South Korean soil.

12Joint Task Force 2

Joint Task Force 2 (JTF2) is an elite special operations force which comes under the Canadian Armed Forces. Its main task is to handle anti-social operations but it is also used for hostage rescue, personnel recovery, foreign internal defense and direct action. Not much is known about JTF2 as the Canadian government has not divulged much information.

13Gruppo di Intervento Speciale

Gruppo di Intervento Speciale (GIS) called Special Intervention Group in English is a special operations unit which comes under the Italian Carabinieri military police. On one hand, GIS can be used as an elite law enforcement unit and on the other hand, it can be used for military operations at International level.

14JW GROM

GROM stands for Grupa Reagowania Operacyjno-Manewrowego which means Operational Maneuvering Response that also means "thunder". The other name of the unit is Jednostka Wojskowa 2305 (Military Unit 2305) and it is the elite unit of Poland. It has been modeled on the lines of US Army's Delta Force, the US Navy's SEAL Team Six and the British Army's SAS.

15Taiwanese Special Forces

The Taiwanese Special Forces is an elite group which tackles high-level operations but what makes it stand out from other forces is its ballistic dress. The ballistic suit covers the soldier from the top to the bottom and it is so scary that it may instill fear in the minds of anti-social elements. The mask covers the entire face as they are 11.2 inches long and 7. 2 inches wide and is capable of stopping anything which also includes a 0.357 magnum slug.

16Peruvian Army Special Forces

The Peruvian army Special Forces carries out the responsibility of guarding the independence, sovereignty and integrity of the country. They are highly trained and technologically advanced group which also makes sure that they paint their faces in such a manner that their enemy gets soaked with fear as they came face to face. Their style of carrying out operations makes them stand out from the other special forces and needless to mention that they are absolutely fearless.
