A viral video doing the rounds of the internet enraged many worldwide when CCTV footage showed two Chinese cops pushing a woman to the ground even as she carried a baby in the arms. The shanghai Policemen had no remorse whatsoever and hit the woman even as the baby is seen falling from the woman’s hands and landing on its face on the ground. But!! Shouldn’t we expect such things to happen in a country like china? The video first aired on Chinese Social media on September 1 has now gone viral. The incident took place in Songjiang district Shanghai China.
The video of Police brutality pushing a woman to the ground even as she is carrying a baby has even sparked anger and resentment among Chinese themselves as was the emotional outbursts on Chinese social media platforms wechat and Weibo. The woman identified only as Zhang seems to have gotten into a conflict with a policeman near his car. Even as one cop manhandles and wrestles her, another cop is seen running in to get a piece of the action and finally throws her to the ground. Before she can even fall, her baby falls from her arms and lands on the sidewalk.

The woman’s face was badly bruised and swollen from the incident. Both mother and child were sent to the hospital where they recovered from the incident. But!! What’s most incredible is the show of force all because of an issue of illegal parking. Hello!! It seems the Chinese police force is yet to wake up to the practice of refusal of parking tickets being settles in court. The only consolation was the fact that the cop in question named Zhu has earned a demerit which means he won’t enjoy an increase in pay for 18 months, Big deal!!

The incident follows the strictest enforcement of parking and traffic rules as a crackdown instructed by the local municipality. There was mixed response in China where some were seen commenting “You don’t even care for your own child, and push the police while using the kid in your arms as your shield. Now you’re playing the victim,” Some also mentioned that the original video of Chinese police pushing a woman to the ground was edited where the part showing the woman arguing and acting hostile with the cop was left out.
