By Andrew Alpin, 16 April 2018

People worldwide never seem to learn when it comes to dealing with animals. For the world’s majority, animals are nothing but a source of entertainment or food.  Tourists visiting wildlife reserves do so not for the sake of appreciating wildlife but to click selfies instead. Some even tease animals which is deplorable. But once in a while comes an incident where someone or the other learns the harsh way never to take animals for granted or else it could end in a weird experience.

1A giraffe smashes a couple’s car window

Call it teasing or stupidity, but tabloids are reporting different assumptions of this weird incident that took place in the West Midlands Safari Park in Worcestershire earlier this month. A giraffe smashed a couple’s car window while foraging for food. Read on to find out what happened.

2They thought it would be just a fun drive through safari

A couple had been on a drive around tour of the West Midlands safari park in Bewdley, Worcestershire. The park is a popular safari spot and home to several exotic species of animals. One can spend a day at the park with a drive-through safari and one couple thought of doing just that with their windows turned down.

3A cheeky giraffe does his own exploring

While exploring the park, a cheeky giraffe suddenly poked its head through the couple’s car window which had been turned down.  As it is the habit of tourists to feed animals, this giraffe also thought he would find food. Either that or he must have been curious to find that he could actually poke his head through the window of a car.

4Startled at first

As soon as the Giraffe’s head pokes through the car, (it seriously looks big) the couple undoubtedly may have got nervous.

5They laugh at his cheekiness not knowing what happens next

But at the same time laughed at the cheeky surprise. They started winding up the car window.

6The worst happens

The giraffe, of course, may have got scared at the gadget narrowing the space on its head and tried to pull out. It was then that the window shattered spraying shards of glass all over the animal’s head. It could have been a scary moment for both animal and the couple but the giraffe didn’t suffer any injury as reported by the staff.

7All were safe

An investigation of the incident was initiated soon after but thankfully no one suffered serious injuries except of course a frightful experience to take home and talk about. The staff uploaded the video taken of the incident on YouTube which has since gone viral.

8What made them pull up the window?

It seems the couple was delighted and amused at the Giraffes actions and they can seem laughing and talking excitedly. What possessed the women to roll up the windows thereafter, heaven knows. They could have just driven on.

9You can drive with your windows half down at Midlands’s safari park

The West Midlands Safari Park allows people to drive with their windows half open so that they can feed certain animals, however, this couple made the mistake of keeping the window completely open and that was when Mr Giraffe thought it a good opportunity to do some exploring of his own.

10West Midlands safari park is a popular destination

This is one of the most popular tourist spots in Worcestershire. Besides the majestic animals like lions and Giraffes. One can see the Southern White Rhino, Zebra, the rare Ankole Cattle, ostriches, the Congo Buffalo and the Eland which is the largest antelope species.

11Filmed by another couple

The incident of the giraffe smashing a window was taken by another coupe filming what was happening. As soon as the window smashed, they too were stunned into silence. Later they wondered if the giraffe suffered injury and decided to alert the staff.

12They used food as bait

The man recording the incident told reporters ‘I recorded this; I can assure you the giraffe was perfectly fine. I honked the horn for the keepers to come over. I pointed out the giraffe and they used food as bait to get a closer look. They were happy that it wasn't hurt and let it be.”

13Is it really an outrage or just an unfortunate accident?

The passengers inside did suffer a few cuts but those were minor ones that were treated with first aid. The incident has outraged many wildlife lovers worldwide wondering why the couple have to turn up the window.

What most people don’t realize is that perhaps the couple never really meant harm. Obviously, if an animal with a head as big as that pokes it through your car window coming face to face with you, one won’t really know how to react in such a situation. Perhaps they pulled up the car window out of nervousness as a spontaneous incorrect action without intentions to harm the animal. It was just an unfortunate accident.
