He wrote, “Today at the Pole of Cold in Oymyakon – in a 65-degree frost – Chinese tourists swim in the ice-free spring Yeyemu. This does not freeze even in severe frosts in Oymyakon. Horror – us locals are afraid to go out in such a cold. And here… the tourists are swimming …”

In order to let the tourists know about the present temperature, the locals of the village Oymyakon had installed a thermometer. That thermometer broke at -62 degrees Celsius. It suggests that the residents’ recording of -67 degrees Celsius might well be true. “It broke because it was too cold,” reported The Siberian Times.

This year, Russia is not the only country which made headlines due to extreme cold temperatures. Around a week back, a picture of Chinese boy sitting in an exam when the temperature was – 9 degrees Celsius. The temperature caused his hair to freeze in the cold conditions. It was really amusing to the other students in the classroom. The 10 years old boy was then called “Snowflake Boy”.

The temperatures dropped to minus nine degrees Celsius in about 30 minutes that morning.”

Fu said that the boy actually lives at some distance from the rural school. As per him, the boy needed to walk for an hour to get to school every day. The boy lives with his siblings and elderly relatives in a mud hut. His parents lived in the city in quest of higher wages.

As the school is based in rural area, there is not much fund available to provide heaters in classrooms. The school only provides breakfast to the students. Now, as the photo has become viral, there is high chances that there will be more facilities in the school.

Since the time picture went viral on social media, a whopping amount of 2,159,100.58 yuan (£245,000/$336,000) has been donated to the school by Chinese people. People admired the dedication of the child towards his education. “Study hard to change your destiny. I believe you can,” wrote one user on Weibo.
