Memory is something that we all cherish. We make experiences throughout our life which make us feel good in times of troubles and keep our hopes high. But what if you lose all those memories in a day and people who you knew once become strangers. One girl from England suffered similar faith, but her boyfriend decided to stick with her to make her remember everything and we have their cute story for you.

1 The girl who lost all her memories

Tunbridge Wells resident, 19 year old Jessica Sherman was on her way to work like normal day one day, but little she knew that that day, her life would change forever. Jessica had a history of seizures and she had a big seizure on her way to work in March last year and when she woke up in the hospital, her complete memory was wiped out because of that fit. She was unable to recognize her family members including her mother and boyfriend. Jessica was diagnosed with frontal lobe epilepsy in 2010 and had the seizure on the tube in March. Her boyfriend Bishop had to hold her up and take her to the office. Her mother rushed to her aid and Jessica found herself staring at a stranger who called herself her mother. Only when her mother Lisa showed her photographs of them together, did Jessica calm down. “I had no idea what I looked like so I had to examine my reflection to check the person in the photos matched before agreeing to get in the car,” Jessica said.

2 Her boyfriend who never gave up

Jessica couldn’t even remember her own name when her parents called her out and she failed to recognize her boyfriend. "They left me alone with him and I hated it. He was a stranger to me, Rich took me to what was supposedly our favourite park but I wouldn't even walk next to him. When he held my hand I pulled away." Jessica says remembering her days after the fit. She was then diagnosed with retrograde amnesia and she attempted to break up with her boyfriend. But Rich was adamant on working on their relationship again from a scratch. "Seeing how passionate he was convinced me that he must care for me, so I agreed to date him, but made no promises," said Jessica.

3 What the future holds for Jessica?

And just like the movie 50 First Dates, Jessica slowly started dating Rich again and gradually fell in love with her boyfriend turned stranger turned boyfriend again. Jessica said that she was traumatized that she would lose her memory again and she didn’t know who to trust as people who were stranger to her were claiming to be her relatives. She said, "I felt so alone with no idea of my personality, my strengths and weaknesses, or my likes and dislikes. It's hard to explain the loss I feel at essentially losing 19 years of experiences." Jessica had to stop working and quit her job as she was still forgetting things on daily basis. Doctors however have said that there is little to no possibility of her gaining her memory of last 19 years. They said that the series of seizures weakened her memories and that fit on March 3, wiped out her entire memory. They also said that there is 50% chance of her losing her memory again in future. "I feel so lucky that he knew me well enough to stand by me even when I thought of him as a stranger. He practically lives at my house now and our relationship is going from strength to strength." Jessica said.
