Every now and then we come across inspiring health stories that involve celebrities in their quest for losing weight after gaining a huge amount of pounds through poor lifestyle habits. But you can really give them credit for the hard work and dedication put in to lose weight. One such example is Rick Ross the rapper who MTV named the hottest rapper in the game.
Little that you might have known, Rick Ross actually shed 100 pounds in 7 months which is quite an accomplishment as weight loss is concerned. However, it wasn’t until his condition shocked him with two seizures that he was finally forced to make serious changes in his diet and lifestyle. After six years he revealed his experience on the Dr. Oz Show on April 6th, 2017 where Ross explained how he suffered the seizures.
It was in 2011 that Ross was struck down with not one but two seizures within a span of 24 hours. That was a huge wake-up call for the rap music heavyweight who weighed a whopping 350 pounds. He suffered the seizures in mid-air after which he made up his mind to change.
Rick Ross poor lifestyle caught up with him during a time he slept only 3 hours each night and devoured T bone steaks at 3 in the morning. He remembers how he was on a flight and his friend was leaning over him saying ‘Get up, homie, you just had a seizure. Let’s go. We got to get off the plane, Ross couldn’t believe he had suffered a seizure; in fact, he refused to believe his buddy.
He then called his own private jet which he boarded after getting off the commercial flight. Within an hour into the flight, he was struck with another seizure. It was then that he knew things were getting out of control.

After getting the fright of his life, Ross decided to change his lifestyle. He recalls waking up in the hospital with his mother staring at him. According to him, “It’s a really bad sign when you wake up and she there and you know, she batted her eyes and…that’s the worst thing for me is to have my mom with that look on her face. So, those made me feel even worse” He knew that his body just couldn’t take the beating it was receiving in terms of health. Less sleep and gorging on food is a prime recipe for unhealthy conditions causing disease and problems like seizures. His eating habits changed completely thereafter.

Rick Ross while speaking out on Doctor Oz revealed how he started eating fruits, something which never usually ate before. He would get inspiration from his tours to different countries seeing the food the people ate and admitting it wasn’t like the type of food he was used to at home.
He even ate pears which he was introduced to while overseas. In 2011, Ross also admitted how lack of sleep was impacting his health in a serious way. Understand me growing up and hearing about seizures, they can be violent, you bust vessels, you bite your tongue, and in my case, it wasn’t none of that,” He revealed how after his second seizure he woke up in the hospital and the first question his doctor asked was when the last time he had slept 8 hours was. Ross replied “‘Man, it had to be at least five years.'”

Ross shares his health regimen which helped him shed a remarkable 100 pounds in seven months. He advocates drinking a lot of water which is a habit that everyone should practice. Ross doesn’t really mention how much water he drinks per day but generally, a nutritionist will always suggest anything from 6-8 glasses per day. Ross avoided all fat-building foods like white rice, bread and refined flour that goes in to making pastas.
As per his own nutrition, he understood how eating a heavy meal in the morning was beneficial to health and fitness. A heavy meal in the morning such as a good breakfast keeps your nourished and satiated the entire day. With dedication and determination to his new lifestyle and diet, Rick Ross lost 100 pounds in 7 months and the rapper revealed the program he went through was cross fit training.

Rick Ross went through a rigorous crossfit training program that included a variety of High-Intensity interval training workouts or HIIT. He admitted it was different from a regular workout which is correct as HIIT takes less time but you end up burning fat the entire day. It is ideal for those with a busy lifestyle but who want to lose weight.
An effective HIIT workout could take no more than 20 minutes. On the Rikey Smiley Show, Ross revealed “"It's a different type of little workout. I feel good.” Ross said that it was Reebok who introduced him to a trainer who taught him the protocols of crossfit training. He admitted at the time he didn’t really have a specific weight in mind as a target but he ended up losing 100 pounds.
The rapper appeared shirtless in May showing off his new figure a vast difference to when he weighed 350 pounds. He also says that cross fit allows him to eat the way he wants and it burns a lot of calories. “So I just, I still eat the way I want to eat...I just go to the gym. I do this s-t called, uh, Crossfit. I call it 'RossFit.' Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's called 'RossFit' now."
Cross fit training has been advocated by stars like auto racing star Danica Patrick Bob Harper the star of “The Biggest loser”. Ross says that in comparison to a treadmill workout of 30 minutes, cross fit instead works you out entirely burning calories as well as building muscle and but even takes a shorter time. In his interview he says that he could work out for 20 minutes and look great flexing his biceps for the camera.
