Game of Thrones isn’t meant for the weak hearted, especially for the women, but introspecting this fact, it is the ladies of this medieval fantasy that have made their mark as one of the most powerful and kickass characters on television. They possess sword fighting skills, magical skills, display authority over their men, manipulate events as per circumstances, give birth to demons, and not to forget ride dragons! Now speaking about these women, a lot of names come to mind in the likes of Daenerys Targaryen, Cersei Lannister, Arya Stark, Ollena Tyrell, Melisandre, Ellaria Sand, Yara Greyjoy and many others. But as the saying goes, “Big things come in small packages”, and so does the most thug character of The Game of Thrones, Lyanna Mormont! The Lady of Bear Islands and therefore, the head of House Mormont, Lyanna Mormont was named after Lyanna Stark, who died years before her birth. She succeeded the throne post the death of her mother, Maege Mormont. She is niece to Lord Commander Jeor Mormont of the Night’s Watch and first cousins with Ser Jorah Mormont. But before we speak in detail about her enterprise, first let’s discuss the other awesome ladies dominating Game of Thrones:-
This silver-haired beauty stole the hearts of fans right from the first season of the show. She sat in the fire with her Khal and emerged as the Unburnt and the mother of three dragons. She has the capability to intimidate a person simply by introducing herself with the list of her never-ending titles inherited and earned by outshining all the challenges thrown at her. Dany’s encounters with any of the opponents, powered with her authority never disappoints its viewers adding to her list of thug moments one after the other.
The most favorite of them all would hand down be the epic episode when she burned down the Dothraki temple filled with Khals inside. While the proud Khals were all being roasted alive like dead meat, Dany arrived uncharred by the fire at the steps of the temple and thousands of Dothraki bowed at their Goddess dressed in nothing but her mighty persona. The blood of dragons running through her veins fuelled with such profound ambition makes her one of the most powerful people in the seven kingdoms.

Cersei didn’t flinch a second before letting the wildfire swallow hundreds of her own people including the Queen, her own son’s wife. She doesn’t believe in winning people’s love and earning the title but can go to any length to snatch it. She burnt down the Great Sept of Baelor to become the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. The horrendous act cost the life of her own son but she’s so blinded by hatred and the thirst for the crown that it only added to her vengeance. She abides by her ideology that the lesser people you love, the better. Her manipulative skills on people would out-power all the physical strength a man could gather.
No one from the Cersei Hate Club can ever forget her iconic walk of shame. The mother of the King of Seven Kingdoms walked nude, humiliated by the complete town. We did think that would shake her confidence but it only fuelled her fury to strike back harder.

If position and power offered so much control, imagine what one could do if they had no identity, no face, no name, yes, a nobody. Separated by her folks in the first season itself, Arya’s journey so far has been nothing less than a roller coaster ride. She was taken advantage of many times and suffered to the threshold, but she mastered the dance of swordplay like no one else would. The little Stark took shelter with the mysterious Faceless men and emerged as a proficiently trained assassin.
Over the six seasons that it took her to reunite with the rest of the Starks, she managed to tick off few names out of the eleven of her infamous “Kill list of Revenge”. Arya exposed Petyr Baelish, the biggest puppeteer by playing his own politics against him and thereby raising the standard of the season 7 finale by killing him with an effortless swipe of “the needle”. It is spine-chilling yet thrilling to watch a child that age kill the way she does. Remember the “Red Wedding Revenge”? Now that’s lethal. Serving Walder Frey with a pie made of the meat of his sons, and later using his face to cold-bloodedly slaughter his entire family.

Where the skinny, pint-sized Stark floors one and all with her physical skills, the golden-agers do not lack far behind in our list. The Queen of Thorns soon turned out to be the Queen of Hearts with her witty yet sarcastic mouth. Olenna Tyrell could be indifferent yet protective, shower praises or take you back by her sudden snap. She owns the conversation she engages herself in. Even when she was poisoned, she had an impious grin as she disclosed murdering the most hated King Joffrey though she could’ve let the truth die with her.

However, the one that stands out from the rest is our pocket-sized Goliath, Lyanna Mormont.
Where all the others are driven by vengeance or ambitions, there is this tiny but most strong-willed lady who focuses on ruling the Bear Islands and doesn’t let any flattery come in the way of it. One single scene screening Lady Lyanna Mormont in Season Six was enough to floor the viewers. She is so fierce, unbending, composed, demanding and yet the adorable 10-year-old, ruling sixty-two men with such unshaken sense of responsibility.

When Jon and Sansa meet her for allegiance, the young ruler was unconvinced that the decision would benefit her, despite all the blandishments. It is impossible not to be impressed by this little girl for her authoritative response to Lord Glover in the latest episode when Jon requests even the teenage girls to learn and practice fighting skills. Very firmly, she made it clear that the Lord must not presume her actions based on her age or gender or doubt the Northerner emotion running through her veins. Her breath-taking dialogue of knitting by the fireplace is worth a grand applaud.

She preaches her solid intentions to fight shoulder to shoulder with the men. To put her words to immediate action, she orders training every soul alive on the Bear Islands. Glover’s opposition is abruptly muted when she spine-chillingly declares that she didn’t need his permission to fight and act any way that helped to defend the North.
