We see hundreds of pictures throughout a day. On social media, in films, magazines, shows, cartoons, milk cartons. But how many of these pictures really inspire us? How many of these photos actually make us think or head to Google to learn more about it? How many pictures actually makes us curious?

You might say it’s subjective. Even a juice box can make you think and learn. But we are talking about a broader understanding of things that don’t technically concern you but will give you a newer perspective. Photos which capture the moment so splendidly that you cannot help but marvel at them and think about who clicked them. 1The story of Chacha

This is a picture of a male chimpanzee named Chacha who had escaped from the Yagiyama Zoological Park. In this photo Chacha viciously screams at a man who tries to capture him in northern Japan. Although how one man could manage such a difficult task is beyond us. Chacha was eventually caught after he was shot with a tranquilizer gun, which made him fall from the power lines.

2The picture of protest

They often say nothing is fiercer than when the youth rebels against oppression. In this picture Azov civil corps activists and members of the Ukrainian national guard participate in a protest march against the recently held elections in the "rebel-held" zones of eastern Ukraine which falls under the Minsk peace agreement. This picture was taken in May 20, 2016.

3The old battle

You must have heard about the Battle of the Somme in the First World War, which was also known as the Somme Offensive. It took place in 1916, between the British Empire armies and battalions of France against the German Empire. In this picture, a number of young men and women offer wreaths during a service marking the 100th anniversary of the start of the battle at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Memorial in France.

If you struggle with hula hoops, you need to learn from this woman. A woman with a hijab on masters the art of hula-hooping at an athleisure class and stuns everybody. Next time you have to think about an excuse to miss hooping at gym class, just use her as an inspiration.

Perhaps the most fascinating volcano picture you will see all year. The photo features a thunderstorm over Japan's Mount Sakurajima volcano. The eruption at the crater made for a brilliant photogenic subject.

6The face of courage

This photo was only taken a couple of years ago and represents courage in the face of the most brutal adversity. The picture has a young boy posing on his bike near an oil field which has been set ablaze. The oil field was set on fire by the extremist militant group ISIS around the October Mosul offensive in Iraq.

7The gagged criminal

This picture looks like it is straight out of your favourite crime thriller, but this is a photo of a real-life court proceeding. In 1995 A felon named Christopher Lightsey was being so disruptive during his own trial that he had to be gagged for the proceedings to go smoothly. He was eventually convicted and was sent back to death row in 2015.

If you're a fan of the rock band Nirvana, this picture will be significant to you. This is a poster calling people to audition for their iconic Smells Like Teen Spirit music video. The ad calls for young people to appear and audition for an appearance in their music video and to all rock music lovers this photo will bring back pangs of nostalgia.

10The face of bravery

This man named August Landmesser had the courage to not say, "Heil! Hitler." Landmasser's tale is intriguing. Landmesser fell in love with a Jewish woman but couldn't marry her as she was sent to a concentration camp to be killed off. Before he himself could be sent to camp, this picture captured Landmesser refusing to do the Nazi salute at a rally in 1936.

11The land of the mask

The island of Miyake-jima is a volcanic one and is one of the most fascinating places in Japan. According to reports, up until a few years ago, inhabitants of this island were required to carry a gas mask everywhere they go owing to the poisonous gases which come from the ground.

This picture looks straight out of a nature documentary. But in reality, Hang Son Ðoòng is a solutional cave in the Phong Nha-K? Bàng National Park in Vietnam. In 2009 it was declared to be the the largest known cave passage cross-section in the world.
