10How Daith piercing came to be known

Erik Dakota a student of Hebrew in college first termed the word Da’at, (meaning knowledge) for the piercing saying that the person doing the piercing must have been intelligent enough to know how to perform one. It was Fakir Musafar’s Body Play Magazine that first showcased the piercing called Apadydoe which is a large piercing in the outer conch.  According to him, the Daith piercing was co-created by Erin Dakota and a Jewish lady who wanted a piercing done with metaphysical overtones.

11What determines a true Daith Piercing

A true Daith piercing has to be done in a way that the bottom part of the ring appears to be coming out of the ear. If the entrance and exit hole of the ring can be seen, that means it is not a true Daith. The technique is very advanced and requires a special needle which is curved. This was devised by Erik Dakota and taught at the Advanced Fakir Piercing Intensive.

12Doctors feel otherwise

Whether a Daith Piercing works or not is always up to the wearer. Doctors on the other hand feel that it is totally an unconventional remedy for migraines with no scientific basis. That’s what some doctors also feel about acupuncture and other traditional medicine such as ayurveda and homeopathic but that’s another story. Before thinking about getting a Daith piercing done, it would be best to read up more on the subject and weigh the pros and cons of it for a better decision.
