5Black or peppermint tea

Peppermint tea is an effective remedy for relief from a toothache. Black tea to some extent also relieves tooth pain because of the presence of tannin which is a plant-based polyphenol that acts like an astringent that can reduce pain and swelling temporarily. Peppermint tea acts as a numbing agent numbing the area.

What you should do.

While you can, of course, drink the tea you make, use the tea bag when immediately after soaking when it’s warm. Place it on the infected area for 10 minutes. For peppermint tea, you can brew the tea for 20 minutes. Allow it to cool and then use it as a mouth rinse.

6Garlic

Garlic can sting when eaten but it can also sting and numb your toothache. Though very pungent, raw garlic has a load of health benefits because of the active ingredient allicin found in garlic. It is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and fights infection. All you need to do is take a raw piece of garlic and chop it up. Add some salt to it and place it on the affected areas. Others prefer chewing this if you don’t mind the abrasive feeling of the salt.

Alternately you can also make a paste of garlic and salt and then place it on the inflamed tooth for at least 5 minutes. After that, rinse it with lukewarm salt water. Rinsing your mouth with lukewarm water will also relive the sensation of the sting from the garlic.

7Vanilla extract

Yes, vanilla extract can actually relieve your toothache. But what you should realize is that while vanilla extract can flavor cakes and icecreams, it has a horrible bitter taste on its own so don’t take too much of it. You need to use a cotton ball and soak it in a pure vanilla extract. Then apply it to the affected area.

8Wheatgrass

Wheatgrass is also well known for antibacterial properties that can retard tooth decay and relieve pain. You can make a juice from the leaves of wheat grass and rinse your mouth with it or chew on the leaves directly. Wheatgrass removes toxins and bacteria from infected gums to fasten the healing process.
