There is no doubt that we all have to face the toughness of the real-world after growing up. The real-world tests you in all dimensions. It is quite contrary to the easy and laidback days of youth. Youth is the time when you don’t need to worry about anything. Though there is a great charm of youth days, but you have no choice but to get into the real-world as the time progresses. The youth is actually free from worries of politics, finances and adult relationships. The youth life is all about fun games, sleep and wandering.
But, contrary to the common perception that youth belongs to fun, there is a woman who is keeping her daughter through tough times to prepare her for the future. Essence Evans is very particular about the harshness of the world that we live in. And, she has made up her mind to train her daughter for future. She is also trying to give her a lesson that she will not forget in her life.

Evans posted on Facebook that she is charging her daughter a rent of $5 to live in the house. She wrote, “This strategy not only prepares your child for the real world but when they see how much real bills are they will appreciate you.”

Evans’ decision has drawn mixed response from the public. One of the angry person wrote, “Wow, what a moron. Let your kid be a kid and enjoy their youth before they have to spend the rest of their life worry about bills. I wouldn’t share this story with anybody because you’re a horrible parent.”

Evans explained her decision and wrote, “Every week she gets $7 in allowance. I make her give me $5 back. $1 for rent, $1 for water, $1 for electricity, $1 for cable and $1 for food. The other $2 she gets to save or do whatever she wants with. I explained to her that in the real world most people spend most of their paycheck on bills with little to spend on themselves”

Evans explained that the money that she is taking from her daughter is actually going on saving. She said, “Now, what she doesn’t know is the $5 is actually going away in her savings account which I will give back to her when she turns 18. So if she decides to move out on her own she will have $3,380 to start off.”

In her Facebook post, Evans also encouraged other mothers to do the same to their children. She urged them to share her post as much as possible to encourage people for taking such kind of step.

There was a bunch of people who were supportive about the plan. A fellow mom wrote, “You are brilliant for teaching this to your child in this way! I have done similar with my kids, and I am now the proud parent of two young ladies who know and respect what they can earn more than something given to them.”

However, there were furious reactions as well. A user wrote, “Its YOUR job to raise your child. Put the money in a savings account if you want, but no child should be made to feel that they should pay for what a parent should provide.”

Evans has now removed her post. But, the post was actually shared more than 3,13,000 times in a few days. However, it is yet not clear whether her decision to remove the post was influenced by the bad responses.

Though there were mixed responses on the post, certainly, the mother was irked by some of the bad responses that she got and hence she might have decided to remove the post.

Many would feel that it is actually inhumane to charge rent to the tiny tots. In the growing phase of their lived, the children are totally dependent on the parents. It is also the time when their emotional buildup is in progress. During such a time, the kids require a lot of love.

However, Evans was very serious about her child’s future and taken this step. She wanted her kid to be strong in life. She thought that by charging a rent, the kid will eventually prepare for her future. She did her best for the children knowingly or unknowingly. What do you think? Was her decision to charge the kid right?
