iPhones are a costly item and invariably we tend to treat it like a delicate gem but once it turns a few weeks old, we take it for granted treating it just like any other phone. iPhones provide many uses but if you truly want your iPhone to work well, then stop making these 20 mistakes with your iPhone.

1 You don’t use the low battery feature

According to Apple.com enabling low power options on your iPhone will prevent the battery dying out faster. Click on the battery in settings to locate the lower power mode.

2Keeping your phone in extreme temperatures

iPhones aren't made to withstand temperature extremes and can only operate well between 32 to 95 degrees F. When not in operation, it can withstand temperatures between -4 to 113 degrees F. iPhones subjected to temperatures outside these ranges may stop working.

3Using cheap non-Apple chargers

If you need to buy a new battery charger always buy an apple product compatible with your phone. Using cheap chargers can damage iPhones which could risk it exploding or dying out faster.

4You keep connected to Bluetooth

If your Bluetooth is always on, it will drain the battery faster making it die out sooner. If you find your iPhone battery draining charge faster, switch off the Bluetooth and observe if there is any difference.

5You don’t use iMessage

You miss out on the best part of owning an iPhone if you don’t use iMessage. iMessage is a unique experience where you can use different gadgets. Turn on the iMessage in settings and enjoy the fun.

6You closed all the apps

It is a common perception that leaving all apps running in the background drains the battery but instead, they remain in pause mode without using power. If you put off your app and restart it again, that uses more battery power than leaving the app on in paused mode.

Not updating your phone deprives it of the latest software updates and enhancement of existing features. Apple representative Emily Shapiro says that one of the most important things to do when you have an iPhone is keeping it up-to-date.

When you don’t back up your iPhone onto your computer, it’s a huge mistake. When you load all your information onto a computer, at least you have it safe in case something happens to your iPhone or if it gets stolen.

9Not Using Passcodes or Touch ID

A passcode or fingerprint may be irritating but it is necessary for your own security. If your phone gets stolen and you don’t get it back, your passcode will protect it from the thief getting your information. A passcode keeps your phone safe from prying eyes too.

10Charging your phone overnight

This is a big mistake done by almost every cell phone user. Charging your phone overnight can cause minor damages to your device and the battery. Either charge it before you sleep or when you wake up next morning.

11Don’t wait until the battery is zero

Many of us wait until the battery is on its last legs about to die out before charging it. According to gizmodo.com, this can make the phone unstable. Charge your phone when it hits the 40% marker.

12Avoid wireless charging

Wireless chargers are the latest trend but they aren't advisable unless necessary. Wireless chargers generate a lot of waste heat and this could potentially damage the charger totally.

Never ever turn your phone off can seriously damage your phone battery. Cnet.com says that phones should be turned off once a week. You could turn your phone off at night when you aren’t using it.

Almost every tech site advises never to charge your battery 100%. It should be always between 50 to 80 %.

16Location services on everything

You must always check that locations services have not been turned on for every app on your phone because this will drain your battery very fast. Turn on location only when you are using the app or else keep it off.

17Using up all storage

You always need to allow 10% of the storage in the phone free for the phone to function efficiently. Before downloading anything or taking photographs, always check your internal storage first.

18Not keeping your apps restricted

Not restricting your app allows your information or data to be seen by others especially when you allow someone to use your phone. Keep your personal apps password protected and restricted for your own privacy. The restriction feature can be enabled from settings.

19Charging your phone with its case on

This is a very dangerous thing to do because then you risk overheating your phone. Overheating the phone drains the battery or even damages it. Remove the case when you are charging your phone.

20Using your phone when it is on charge

iPhones are hardy devices but that’s not to say they can’t get damaged. Playing a game or using one of the phones features that require a load on the phone while it is being charged runs the risk of the software or circuits being damaged. When your phone is on charge use it only after it has finished charging.
