How many of us actually change the items in our toilets. The one place where you go to clean yourself may end up contaminating you more with germs because of not changing items regularly. Washing off strands of hair and dead skin cells are the precise reason why your toiletries should be changed. Here are 9 bathroom items that need changing frequently.

1 Discard your loofahs every three weeks

Scrubbing your skin with a loofah everyday can trap dead skin cells in the netting. The warm and moist atmosphere of your bathroom makes it a perfect breeding ground for bacteria and even mold which can also enter your loofahs. Get rid of them every three weeks.

2 Change wash cloths every day

People tend to use wash cloths every day in the same manner as loofahs which means it also ends up filled with dead skin cells. However the material isn’t the same mesh type texture. You could wash and change them every day.

3 Discard makeup sponges after 6 months

Makeup applicators are like kitchen sponges and hotbeds for bacteria. Wash your makeup sponges by saturating them with warm water and removing as much color as you can. Massage them with a cleaner till all the color is removed then rinse out and dry. By doing this you will need to replace them only every 6 months.

4 Replace toothbrushes every three months

Your toothbrush is always vulnerable and exposed to a lot of unpleasant things in the moist conditions of your bathroom such as fecal matter and bacteria. It is one of the most important bathroom items that need changing frequently. Besides this, the bristles too get worn out. You should replace your toothbrush every three months.

5 Wash bath towels every week

By hanging up your towels to dry after rinsing, you can use them at least four times. You should always use a fresh towel every week. Your old towels should be washed thoroughly.

6 Change hand towels everyday

Living in a large family means hand towels are being used regularly as they get dirty faster. Change hand towels every single day. However, if you are just a couple, then changing them every two to three days will do.

7 Change bath mats every week

If your bath mat receives a lot of traffic daily from family members and friends too, then you should have two mats that can be changed and used alternately every week. The used mat should be washed thoroughly as it could contain dirt and fallen hair.

8 Facial cleansers need to be replaced after a year

Facial cleansers are not soap. They will expire after a year. If you don’t use your facial cleanser within a year, then just discard it and buy a new one. This also keeps your formula up to par.

9 Shower liners and curtains should be laundered every three months

Among bathroom items that need changing frequently are moldy shower liners. No one likes seeing liners filled with mold and mildew. Whenever you see mildew appear, then you know its time to wash your liners. Wash liners and shower curtains in your washing machine every three months regardless of mildew or not. Dry them out in the sun.
