The Australian director and actor, well known for his role as The Joker in his last commercially successful film, The Dark Knight, had finished filming just a few months before his fatal end. It was 22nd January 2008 (2:45p.m EST) when his housekeeper found him unconscious in his bed. At 3:36 p.m, Ledger was declared dead. Based on the initial autopsy and the toxicological analysis, the report concluded, "Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine." The official announcement of the cause behind Ledger's death lead to the rising concern about problems with modern prescription drug abuse and misuse of combined drug intoxication. Many say that Ledger grew obsessive of The Joker character which lead to his overdosing. To Empire in 2007, in an interview the actor had spoken about how he prepared for the role, "I sat around in a hotel room in London for about a month, locked myself away, formed a little diary and experimented with voices-it was important to try to find a somewhat iconic voice and laugh. I ended up landing more in the realm of a psychopath..." Ledger's diary ends with a "Bye-Bye" scribbled across the page which itself feels like an ominous sign.
