“I feel this stage persona and I felt more comfortable on stage [with a beard]. Besides that, I’m a member of the gay community and [growing up as a gay boy] in a small town wasn’t the most fun thing on Earth,” she added.

Conchita used beards as he was a homosexual boy while growing up. He decided to keep the beard like the many women who embrace it unapologetically. "Over the years, I tried to fit in, and I changed myself in every way you can imagine because I just wanted to be part of the game, and then I realized that I create the game," Conchita said.
