Once the news broke that Depp was abusive to Amber, the internet was a storm of hate towards Depp. The actor saw a drop in sponsors and even a loss of movies. Hardcore fans were also against the actor after the allegations spread across the web.
Amber received $7 million as a part of her divorce settlement. It was reported that she donated that money to the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and the American Civil Liberties Union. People thought that this could be the end of the entire issue but there was way more to come from Depp's side.
In 2018, Depp counter sued Amber. It was in 2020 that things got way more complicated and truths began to reveal themselves. It was revealed in an audio recording that Amber said she had hit Depp but, he never hit her back. This went against everything she said when she sued him first.
Depp even went after the publication house known as The Sun for calling him a wife-beater. He also wanted a report from the ACLU whether or not Amber actually donated her divorce settlement money to the kid's hospital or not.
The couple is still in turmoil with Amber losing multiple movie roles after the truth came out that she had lied about Depp hitting her and that he was abusive. Depp however has maintained his movie deals and has starred in multiple movies since the lawsuit came out.
