There are several actors who would never like their childhood pictures on the net. What many of them don’t realize is the fact that their fans are obsessed with everything about them and just love seeing photos from childhood till they became big names in Hollywood. Several stars actually look beautiful and attractive much before they became famous because such photos ooze a sense of natural and uncut beauty like a young Jason Momoa.

Momoa is an only child who was born to artistic parents. His name is Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa His Mother was a photographer while his father was an artist. Want to know how he got such good looks?? Well his father Joseph is Hawaiian and his mother Coni is of mixed parentage (German, Irish and Native American). That diversity created the awesome Jason Momoa. Although Jason lived mostly in Norwalk, Iowa, he returned to Hawaii where he was discovered there.

Yes Momoa now 38 may have risen to fame as the character Khal Drago on game of Thrones, but he was also quite famous back in his days in Hawaii. He won the title of Hawaii male model of the year 1999. But as weird as it seems, Jason is actually embarrassed about his pictures from that time. Perhaps he is happier with the rough cut look of the Khal Drago and the awesome beast that is Aquaman. Maybe he doesn’t really like the smooth pretty boy looks of his teen days.

Well!! Now isn’t that a surprise. Befitting for the role of Aquaman is a fish man who also has academic knowledge of Marine Biology. While in Iowa, after finishing high school, he began his studies in Marine Biology. He then went to Colorado state university to study Wildlife Biology but before completing his studies, he returned back to Hawaii.

As an avid surfer which is common for most men living in Hawaii. Momoa worked in a surf shop when he was spotted by a scout for Baywatch Hawaii. His clean shaven baby face well chiseled but cute boy looks got him a number of roles noteworthy of which are North Shore, Johnson Family vacation and Stargate: Atlantis. Most of these gigs were done between 1999 and 2001. As you can see he was always hot.

In such photos of young Jason Momoa, one can hardly recognize him. But!! As he may feel embarrassed about his early pics, his fans don’t think so as he is still a star to dote upon. No one would have even contemplated Momoa looked like this at one time. He looks far from his rough-cut, Aqua man and Khal Drogo looks. He got his bulky body later on in life. Momoa is 6’3” and weighs 220 pounds of which you can see is only muscle. He is not fat in the least.

Many may feel that his scar adds attraction to his rugged lean looks. There is a story behind how he got his scar and it was as you may have guessed, in a brawl. Jason was involved in a bar brawl in LA. Another customer took a glass and smashed it across his face which resulted in him receiving 140 stitches. Rather than mope about it, he ended up being happy with the prominent scar giving him a signature look. The fight happened just before he started shooting for Game of Thrones and seems to have fit in for the look of the rough badass character. In fact, Momoa says he got called “pretty boy” all his life, so he is thankful for the scar.

Like so many actors such as Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Lawrence, Jason Momoa first started working as a model in Hawaii. That is also how he won the Hawaiian Model of the year in 1999. He also hosted the Miss Teen Hawaii show when he was just 19.

Just after his modeling career got off to a good start, Momoa was scouted for Baywatch Hawaii and acted in the show for three years. As a model and a guy working in a surfing shop, that was the perfect role for him at the time.

Momoa intentionally altered his face a second time before he started acting in Conan the Barbarian in 2011. This wasn’t any cosmetic surgery but a ghastly request he made to his friend. It was alleged that Momoa wanted to resemble the character perfectly which would have been better if he had a broken nose. He then asked his friend to punch him on the nose which the guy did. The punch broke Momoa’s nose instantly. The look has definitely gone in favor of him getting the role as Khal Drago because you can’t really see him in the role looking like a pretty boy.

Jason Momoa can also be seen in a video for UFC fighter Mark Hunt in Queensland where he performs the Maori Haka, a tribal dance popularly seen before All Blacks rugby match. It was also alleged that Momoa performed the famous New Zealand tribal dance during his audition for Game of Thrones. So, that’s the young Jason Momoa for you. In fact, in case you didn’t know he is married to Lisa Bonet and has two wonderful kids a son named Nakoa –Wolf and a daughter named Lola Lolani. He is also stepfather to American singer Zoe Kravitz.
