Charles Darwin in his “The Descent of Man” identified 15 body parts that he described as useless. Even though Darwin’s catalog wasn’t exactly complete, there are several body parts that aren’t really needed. Take a look at 15 body parts not needed and may soon vanish in future.
Although our eyebrows keep the sweat away from our eyes, the other hair on body parts serve no purpose. Males and females soon may evolve into human beings with o chest hair, facial hair etc.

These are troublesome mucus lined cavities whose sole function is irritation and to lighten our heads but other than that there is o other function. Perhaps we would be better off without them.

Rabbits and dogs are able to move their ears independently because of these muscles but other than wiggling ears, for humans, these serve no purpose and can’t be used for a similar function.

Wisdom teeth are a nuisance which come out when you’re older and invite the risk of being impacted. Prehistoric man chewed plants for calories in order to survive but yet today just 5% of the population has healthy but useless wisdom teeth. Hopefully, these will disappear in the future.

Neck ribs are a set of cervical ribs which could have been a leftover of evolution from reptiles and appears in less than 1 % of the population. Some have it on the left or right while others may have both. All they do is cause nerve and artery problems.

The Palmaris is along muscle that runs along the elbow to the wrist and is surprisingly missing from 11% of human beings today. It was important for climbing and hanging and would only benefit those into rock climbing and martial arts.

Who really wants male nipples? No One! In the early fetal development stages, unborn children are sexless which is why nipples are present in both genders. Men lack prolactin for lactation and that’s why can’t produce milk so why the need for nipples.

These are small sets of muscles that help animals to puff their fur up for insulation and intimidation. In Humans, this is displayed through the experience of Goosebumps but we don’t exactly have any control which is why it’s not needed.

The appendix is actually a nuisance organ that does not provide any function except to run the risk of inflammation that can become dangerous. In early man it served as a special area to digest cellulose when humans consumed more plants than meat.

Among body parts not needed 8% of humans have 13 ribs and so do chimpanzees and gorillas. However, it is useless with no function so we are better off without it and will disappear in the future.

Scientists discovered that humans walked and balanced on their midline of their feet but now we have evolved to balancing more using our toes. Studies prove that the center of balance is shifting inward which means that humans relied on toes for balance but now they don’t need them all that much. In the future we may not have toes.
Also called the tail bone, it’s the remnant of a tail which humans once had when evolving from primates. Most animals use it for communication but humans don’t need it which is why it may soon disappear.

The common ancestor of birds and mammals used to feature a third membrane for eye protection and removing out dust and debris. Humans now retain just a tiny fold in the inner corner of the eye which will soon disappear.

Darwin’s point is a small folded point of skin that is near the top of each ear and is found in some humans. It could be the remnant of a larger shape that helped humans focus on distant sounds. It too may soon disappear.

This is one body part not needed. It is a small muscle that stretches under the shoulder and starting from the rib to the collarbone. If humans walked on all fours it would be useful but it is. While some have one, others have two.
