Incidentally for those wondering if Lucy pushed Dexter out through C section, the answer is NO!! He was a scheduled C section although she didn’t plan it that way. Her earlier daughter was delivered through an emergency C section and so she didn’t want to risk going through another c section.

The mirena implant is small T shaped IUS device that is implanted into a females womb to be used as a form of contraception. It needs to be implanted by a trained medical; practioner. The device releases the hormone progestogen into the womb which lines the cervix with mucus preventing the sperm from reaching an egg. Even if it does, the hormone thins down the lining of the womb making it difficult for fertilization. It can be removed at any time. It is supposed to last up to five years and is regarded as 99% effective.
So much for the contraceptive device whose epic fail was captured with the newborn clutching the mirena implant. If it was 99% effective, well!! In Lucy’s case the 1% should now be named a Dexter. We wish this guy the best of a great life.
