La Kisha Wells and her family thought they had “made it” because everything was going well for them. They bought their first home, all of their kids did well in school, and their business was doing well since it was the work they loved and were really passionate about.
All of these good things were credited to God by the family. Even when Wells’ 15-year-old son, Torianto “Junior” Brinson, was declared dead after a terrible car accident, she says that God brought him back to life. When all hoped seemed lost, she turned to God to save her child’s life, and he heard her pleas. Here’s how it happened.
Everything was going smoothly for La’Kisha and her family, but little did they know that her son would end up in a tragic accident in which he nearly lost his life. “One minute after it happened, my daughter called me, and she was hysterical. ‘Mom, you need to get here now.’ So, they were literally around the corner from the house. So, we drove on the street. Had to get out of the car, run, and saw him lying there,” La’Kisha said.

The emergency medical team was already present at the site and was doing all they could to resuscitate her son. Four people from the emergency services were there and tried to bring the teen back to life. Despite their best efforts, they were not able to revive the teenage boy, leaving La’Kisha and her family devastated.

Brinson was immediately rushed to the Texas Medical Center by Life Flight. But the hospital told Wells that they couldn’t help her son anymore. She said, “I remember asking them, ‘You’re just going to let my baby just sit here?”

Left with no other option but to accept that her little boy was gone, La’Kisha refused to give up and decided to seek divine assistance. She put her faith in God and left the entire situation in his hands. She began to pray over her son’s body after he was pronounced dead.

As La’Kisha prayed over her son’s body, she felt his hand move which ignited a glimmer of hope. She stated- “I was holding his hand, and I prayed and told him, ‘Junior, I need you!’ A minute later, I saw his hand move.”

After witnessing signs of life in her boy, she alerted the medical staff at the hospital, who acted right away. Brinson was taken into the emergency unit for traumatic brain injury surgery. All she had to do next was wait and keep praying for the best.

Brinson lived, but he was almost unconscious for a few months. He was having trouble moving around after the surgery and even needed two people to help him walk. But the worst was over, and he was granted a second chance at life.

Brinson is doing much better now and is even back to playing basketball. La’Kisha’s husband, Brian Wells, said, “It gets hard some days to think about the past, but to see where he is at now, it gives you a little more excitement for him.”

It took a lot of care and love from his family, friends, and the people who worked at TIRR Memorial Hermann to help him get back to everyday life. Wells said, “We taught him how to brush his teeth, how to take a bath, how to eat. I’m a teacher, so I began to teach him fourth-grade work, teach him how to comprehend what he reads again and comprehend math.”
Even though he missed a whole year of school, he is still on track to finish high school on time because he took extra classes before the crash.

She wants everyone to always believe in God’s power, no matter what people say. Even though She had been continually told that her son would never be able to walk or talk again properly, she kept believing that God would make it happen.
She wrote on Facebook, “Every mother, every Father, every person. It does NOT matter what man says, all you need to know is what GOD says. For he has the final Say. I pray his story ministers hope to your souls.”
