9Scotchgard - Patsy Sherman

Patsy Sherman was an American scientist at the time when there were a very few female chemists. She accidentally became the co-inventor of Scotchgard while working in the laboratory. She was given a responsibility to develop a rubber material that would prevent damage from jet aircraft fuels. She accidentally spilled the fluorochemical rubber on an assistant’s shoe and later they found out the stain on the shoe repelled water and oil.

10The windscreen Wiper- Mary Anderson

In 1903, when she visited New Fork she noticed that her driver had to open the window to clear the snow from the windscreen. It was both inconvenient and dangerous and she wanted to come up with an idea to solve the issue. Later in 1903, she invented windscreen wiper. It was indeed a great idea but at that time car companies didn’t believe her idea and she was never profited.

11 Stem cell isolation- Ann Tsukamoto

Ann Tsukamoto is a co-patentee of a process to separate the human stem cell and this patent was awarded in 1991. It is a very big and complicated invention that will provide the medical word with the abilities to learn more about cancer. There is a hope that one day this invention will cure many diseases and cancer. She is presently directing more research in the field of stem cell growth.

12Disposable diapers- Marion Donovan

Marion Donovan was an American inventor and entrepreneur who is famous for her unique invention of waterproof diapers. She was fed-up with the repetitive task of changing her daughter’s diapers so she thought of a possible solution. With the help of sewing machine and shower curtain she created a diaper that fulfilled her task, she created the very first waterproof diapers which she gets patented in 1994 and sold later for $1 million.
