She was a theoretical physicist and was the first African women ever to be awarded Ph.D. in 1973, From MIT. In the late 1970s and 80s, while working for bell laboratories, her research with subtonic particles created a scientific discovery that helped in the inventions of touch-tone telephones, solar cells. Her breakthrough research also helped in inventing the technologies like caller ID and call waiting.

The invention of pressing and curling iron was a great gift and it is now used in every beauty saloons for hair treatments. Just close your eyes and think what would be the life without a pressing and curling iron. For me, life will be very difficult without a pressing iron.

Maria Beasley was a great inventor who held 14 patents in different countries. In 1880, she came up with the design of new life raft which was fireproof, readily launched easy to store, fold & handle and that was much safer and better from the others. She patented this invention in 1882. She also patented barrel hooping machine and this machine of her made her really rich.
