This was when Clara Daly all of 15 came to the rescue. Clara herself a dyslexic showed a unique maturity beyond her years and sat with Cook throughout his flight. Clara’s actions were looked upon by other passengers in amazement as she communicated with Cook in sign language.

What’s fortunate is the fact that Clara being dyslexic had opted to learn ASL (American Sign Language). It was the easiest language she could learn but surprisingly for many, ASL is considered quite difficult too.

She sat with Cook and comforted him by conversing him for 6 hours on the flight earning huge respect from fellow passengers especially Lynette Scribner who was seated next to Cook. Even the flight attendants were thankful for her help.

Scribner posted photographs and explained on Facebook how Clara signed into the palm of Cook’s hand and spoke to him through signs. In her post Scribner said “I saw this man, Tim, in Boston's Logan airport with the sister he'd been visiting.

Laura says “It appeared he was both deaf and blind, the attendants sincerely wanted to assist him, but had no way to communicate. I watched as they didn't flinch when he reached out to touch their faces and arms”.
