There are always angels in disguise who may suddenly turn up to help you in the moment you need them most. This is what Tim Cook a deaf and blind man found to his amazement while flying from Boston to Portland on a six hour journey. The man posed a big challenge to flight attendants who did not have the necessary expertise to communicate with him. Then help came from the most unexpected quarters in the shape of 15 year old Clara Daly who has won the hearts of millions who reading about her good deed for Cook. After a passenger described the incident on social media, it has since gone viral.
Clara Daly at 15 has gone on to become a viral internet sensation ever since she sat throughout the 6 hour flight from Boston to Portland helping a blind and deaf man last week.

Photos of her uploaded to social media have grossed over 1 million likes and she has been praised and compared to an angel across the USA. It goes to show age isn’t a factor where kindness is concerned and it is a human trait found in wonderful human being like Clara Daly.

Tim Cook a 64 year old blind and deaf man was a passenger on the Alaska Airlines flight from Boston to Portland. The flight crew did their best to make him comfortable. However, the crew is obviously not versed in sign language and moreover, Cook required a special means of communication since he was both deaf and blind.

For the flight attendants, it was a bit of a problem as they could not communicate with Cook. This led the staff to ask other passengers for help and if anyone who knew sign language. There was one unexpected volunteer.

This was when Clara Daly all of 15 came to the rescue. Clara herself a dyslexic showed a unique maturity beyond her years and sat with Cook throughout his flight. Clara’s actions were looked upon by other passengers in amazement as she communicated with Cook in sign language.

What’s fortunate is the fact that Clara being dyslexic had opted to learn ASL (American Sign Language). It was the easiest language she could learn but surprisingly for many, ASL is considered quite difficult too.

She sat with Cook and comforted him by conversing him for 6 hours on the flight earning huge respect from fellow passengers especially Lynette Scribner who was seated next to Cook. Even the flight attendants were thankful for her help.

Scribner posted photographs and explained on Facebook how Clara signed into the palm of Cook’s hand and spoke to him through signs. In her post Scribner said “I saw this man, Tim, in Boston's Logan airport with the sister he'd been visiting.

Laura says “It appeared he was both deaf and blind, the attendants sincerely wanted to assist him, but had no way to communicate. I watched as they didn't flinch when he reached out to touch their faces and arms”.

Scribner described how fascinating it was to see Clara signing letters into Cooks' hand one at a time. 'It was fascinating to watch as she signed one letter at a time into his hand. When Cook asked her if she looked pretty, Clara blushed and laughed. Her seatmate who by this time had also learned a few signs conveyed a “yes” to Cook.

The entire incident was a heartwarming one. Scribner detailed how Clara attended to Tim Cook for the entire flight and ensured that he got what he needed. They became great friends and even hugged each other after the flight.

Clara’s beautiful gesture was admired and praised by everyone including the airline, its attendants, passengers and her mother Jane who was travelling with her. This was the most heartwarming thing that anyone could do. Clara went the whole six hours helping another human being.

Speaking to reporters who got wind of the story Clara said 'For the last hour of the flight we just were talking, having a conversation about life, they call you extraordinary but it's just something that you do. He took such joy in a conversation that we take for granted.'

Clara was praised by many but the man who praised the most was Cook himself. Tim Cook was also interviewed by Portland TV who described Clara as an angel. Scribner’s post was an instant hit on Facebook and got 950,000 likes. It was a beautiful gesture by young Clara who proved how humanity does exist without age or gender.
