Mean Girls star and your definite early 2000s crush Lindsay Lohan has had a troubled life. From addiction issues to abusive relationships to a shaky career, Lindsay has had it tough. But things went ugly in 2011 when she was accused of stealing a gold necklace worth $2,500 from a swanky California boutique.

Lindsay had the most hysterical response to these charges. The actor said that she was simply borrowing the jewellery, and would have returned it. Though many designer stores have a lending policy in lieu of deposits, the store Lindsay stole from had no such records claiming that the actor had ever requested for borrowing the item.
In 2009, during one of Lindsay’s magazine photoshoots, £250,000 worth of Christian Dior jewellery went missing. Lohan was obviously the prime suspect after the magazine staff overheard Lindsay repeatedly asking if she could keep the Dior jewellery used in the shoot.
In 2007, one of the biggest pop stars of the century had a famously crazy year. Britney Spears had a number of public meltdowns, had hilarious gaffes on-stage, went through tumultuous personal problems, shaved off her head and had to go to multiple rehabs.

It was during that year that Britney was seen stealing a lighter from a gas station. It is possible that the pop sensation was just doing it for fun. “I stole something. Oh, I’m bad,” Britney was heard saying into the camera after she took the lighter. It was also reported that Britney stole a wig from a shop after the staff wouldn’t let her try some underwear.
One of the hottest Hollywood actors also had a pretty rough childhood. Not only did her parents split up when she was very young, but she was also bullied a great deal in middle school. As a teenager, maybe as a way to vent out her angst, Megan started to grow a penchant for shoplifting and petty stealing.

As a teen, Megan would steal candies and small goods from gas stations and small convenience shops. Although she did not face charges and escaped the law several times, she was once caught stealing a tube of lipgloss from Walmart. Upon being held, the Transformers star came clean about her crime and burst into tears. She is reportedly still banned from Walmart.
One of the most popular names in the early 2000s, Amanda Bynes, had a rather nasty fall from fame over the last few years. She did not just suffer from addiction issues but was also arrested for driving under the influence more than once. The actor was also captured on video while she shoplifted a $200 hat in 2014.

Reports emerged that Amanda picked up the designer hat from New York’s famous store Barney’s, and was caught by security as she tried to leave the store without paying. Amanda said she wanted to buy the hat, but did not have the purse with her. She further added that she was going to get her purse from her car but was confronted by a fan, who wanted to take pictures of her and got confused.
One of the most famous shoplifting incidents in Hollywood is still Winona Ryder’s. The Stranger Things actor, who was a ‘90s heartthrob, had a somewhat wavering presence in Hollywood in the past decade. In 2001, Winona was arrested for stealing $5,500 worth of clothes from a famous New York store Saks. During her trial, she was also accused of using drugs without prescriptions and was charged with grand theft and vandalism.

Winona was sentenced to three years of probation, 480 hours of community service, and had to pay $3,700 in fine. The actor also had to pay a $6,355 compensation to Saks. She was further ordered by the court to attend counseling. Winona later confirmed that she was clinically depressed at the time and was under the influence of drugs.
In 2015, pop sensation Kesha had allegedly stolen a dinosaur - that’s right. Kesha and her assistant were at the LA Natural History Museum for a wedding and went to their gift shop. There they picked up a 3-foot long T-Rex statue and left the store with it.

A source revealed to The Sun that when security stopped Kesha and asked about the dinosaur, the pop star apologized and handed over the dinosaur to him. But the T-Rex was covered in glitter and thus obviously became un-sellable.
Rockstar and Kurt Cobain’s widow Courtney Love was accused of stealing $113,700 worth of designer jewellery including, white gold bracelets, diamond and white gold chains. She was accused by the jewelry company Jacob and Co-owners of the company claimed that they lent Courtney all that jewellery for an event.

In their lawsuit, the company claimed that she has returned only a diamond bracelet but not the rest. While Courtney claimed that she had lost the other pieces of jewellery, Jacob and Co insists that they are still with Courtney.
Rapper Big Sean had a tumultuous relationship with Glee star Naya Rivera. And even though they were engaged to be married, Big Sean called their engagement off. After they broke up, Naya took to Twitter to accuse Big Sean of stealing a Rolex from her house. Big Sean vehemently denied those charges.

“First of all, why would I have to steal a Rolex? Second of all, every Rolex that I have, I have receipts for, papers for, certificates of authenticity for. I would never steal a Rolex from anybody. You see [Naya's] tweet got deleted in like 20 seconds,” Big Sean told Us Weekly.
Late British singer Peaches Geldof, who is also the daughter of musician Bob Geldof, had quite a wild reputation. Peaches, who passed away at the young age of 25, was caught stealing cosmetics from a store.

She was also caught leaving a designer store wearing a coat with its label tags still on. Peaches was also accused of stealing a number of expensive items from a photoshoot.
77-year-old Lainie Kazan was arrested earlier this month for shoplifting $180 worth of groceries from an American supermarket. She was arrested soon after but has reportedly been released. While the supermarket confirmed that Kazan did indeed shoplift the groceries, her lawyer denied the charges.

Her lawyer Mark Werksman told E! That Lainie never shoplifted and it was just a misunderstanding and that the store employees did not give her time to pay up before they charged her with theft.
