Game of Thrones might be your favorite fantasy watch, but the show also had some fantastic cameos made by beloved actors and musicians. You obviously know about Ed Sheeran’s cameo as a Lannister guard on the seventh season of GOT, but apart from the Ginger Brit, a whole lot of other musicians and artists have made appearances on the show. From Coldplay drummer to bands like Sigur Ros to Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody, we bet you did not take note of these cameos in your favorite fantasy watch. So, let’s do a quick catch up:
Coldplay drummer Will Champion played a drummer on GOT, too. He appeared in the Red Wedding sequence of Season 3 Episode 9, where he was part of the wedding band. Interestingly, he was seen playing on a medieval-style drum during the wedding party. Will Champion was also part of Game of Thrones Red Nose Day Special, where he famously played a set with his bandmates and the GOT cast.
The 39-year-old drummer has been with Coldplay for a very long time. And he had joined the British rock band with almost no experience.

“It was such an incredible experience to be on set as extras for our collective favorite show Game Of Thrones and to be wildlings murdered and then brought back to life by White Walkers was beyond amazing,” Mastodon drummer Brann Dailor told Pitchfork.
Mastodon also appeared for the second time on Season 7 of the show, but this time as White Walkers.

The popular Icelandic indie/ folk rock band played the role of a touring band in season 6 of Game of Thrones. The five-member band appeared during a street play, during which Arya Stark was asked to carry out an assassination. Band guitarist and vocalist Ragnar “Raggi” Þórhallsson is a huge Arya loyalist and said, “I’m rooting for Arya Stark or Varys to win it all but I don’t think the Iron Throne matters that much anymore, there’s a bigger fight to be had.”
Ragnar also talked about their love for GOT. “We’d asked our manager a long time ago to, ask them if we could be extras in it while they were shooting in Iceland, but nothing really happened, and our touring schedule was pretty crazy at that time anyways so we sort of just disappeared. But apparently, they noticed our interest and the ball started rolling. I’m pretty sure our manager just kept asking and asking and finally they must have given in,” he said.

Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody made a blink-and-miss cameo in Season 3 of Game of Thrones. Gary played a Bolton soldier, marching through the forest on a horse. He was also heard singing a native song called ‘The Bear and the Maiden Fair.
In 2012, Gary announced on Facebook that he is going to make a cameo on the show. “So I did my scene this morning for Game Of Thrones. I looked like this. Can’t say much just it’s no pivotal role. Fun!” wrote Gary, along with a picture of him in GOT costume.

The Icelandic rock band Sigur Ros also famously had an appearance in Game of Thrones Season 4, in The Lion and the Rose episode. All three members of the band appeared in the scene during King Joffrey and Margaery’s wedding and even sang a local number.
“It was a great experience for us and fun to meet the cast of the show that we have all been following for a long time. The meanest person in television history, King Joffrey, is played by the sweetest guy Jack Gleeson. It was a brilliant 'hurry up and wait' time for us and we would do it again in a heartbeat,” George Holm, of Sigur Ros told Rolling Stones.
“It felt like a natural thing to make our version of ‘Rains of Castamere.’ We probably managed to create the gloomiest version so far. It is maybe not the happiest wedding song, but we think that it fit the scene very well,” he added.

Iconic English singer, and Dr. Feelgood band member Wilko Johnson had one of the most exciting GOT cameos, which was also his acting debut. He played Ser Ilyn Payne, in an episode of Season 1 and returned for a cameo in Season 2.
“It’s the first time I’ve done any acting, but all I had to do was stare at people. Payne had had his tongue cut out, so I just had to glare at people with menace and swing a sword every now and again,” he said about his role.
“I’d certainly like to go back to Game of Thrones. It was so much fun, and my character is alive, so it’s certainly possible,” Johnson told NME.

“I broached the subject by sending them an email back saying 'Listen I don't know what your plans are for me but it would really mean a lot to me if I could have one of those trademark Game of Thrones gruesome death scenes, and they wrote back saying 'Actually Steve, that was exactly what we had in mind for you,” Steve had said after his cameo aired on TV.

English actor and comedian Kevin Eldon made two stellar cameos on Game of Thrones. He played an actor in Season 6 and a Gold Cloak Lannister guard in Season 7. But his character had to die in both the appearances.
In Season 6, Eldon played Warden of the North Ned Stark, in a local play’s execution scene, where his head was chopped off, for the sake of the play. Eldon’s character Camello survived. In Season 7, Eldon played a guard who was hammered to death by Gendry.
