An Easy Test That Will Reveal Your Current Psychological State

By Andrew Alpin, 10 February 2018

It is a common practice for psychologists and psychiatrists to use what is termed projective tests for evaluation of a person’s state of mind. In order to derive at a conclusion, ambiguous photographs and pictures are then used by showing them to people and then interpreting their answers according to the tenets of psychology.

1What are projective tests?

In psychology, a projective test examination uses ambiguous stimuli such as inkblots as in the Rorschach test or enigmatic pictures such as the Thematic Aptitude test that evokes a response which reveals the personality of a subject through a projection of traits, behavioral patterns on external stimuli and internal attitudes. Here are two tests just for you to find what’s on your mind and your psychological deviation.

2The first test

Take a look at this picture but do it for not more than 10 seconds. When you finish refer what you see to the interpretations given below.

3If you saw a cave

If you saw a cave, it means you are well balanced and not easy to throw off. You have a calm composure and a positive personality that sees the good side of everything in life. You possess inner strength, are extremely optimistic and don’t exactly face pressure from negative situations and problems. You are the kind of person people look up to for advice. You are the one who loved ones look to for support and your positive energy influences them too.

4If you saw a UFO:

You Border on the verge of a breakdown and most probably about to explode due to the pent-up stress in you. Even a low susceptibility to stress can increase your risk of disease such as heart problems, insomnia and reoccurring nightmares. Try not to suppress your emotions all the time and don’t be annoyed by the little things in life or else you increase your risk of headache, migraines, nausea and other complications.

5If you saw an alien’s face

You are most likely to create a problem out of anything where small issues become monumental in upsetting you. You need to pull yourself together and not allow the small baseless worries in life to drain your energy. If you are suddenly faced with a problematic situation, learn to look at it from different angles which will then bring about various options to solutions rather than on one track that makes you feel you’re stuck in a rut.

In order to fight stress and if you suffer from panic attacks, do breathing exercises which help a lot. Breathe deeply through your nose and release (exhale) from your mouth.

6What if you saw a cave and UFO’s?

This is one perspective of the photograph I reflected upon where many may have seen an overall picture of a cave with UFO’s. It’s really hard not to do so. Putting the two points together, it could possibly mean every strong personality like the first who also fights his own demons of stress trying to negate stressful problems to the point of sometimes suppressing them. Perhaps one shouldn’t really try to suppress stress and it may be ok to let off steam once in a while.

You are strong no doubt, but there could also be another side of you fighting your own stress because of work, health, lifestyle etc. It’s perfectly normal to be faced with such situations and it gets too much, don’t try to fight it yourself but get help or perhaps talk to someone instead of carrying the weight of your problems on your own shoulders. This is what perhaps keeps your constant fears entrenched within you. Moreover, allow your positive attitude to take control and analyze situations regardless of how small they may be to find a variety of options to a situation.

Bonus tests:

7There are three reasons why psychological tests have been created

There are three main reasons why such tests are created. It’s easier to acquire information from tests in comparison to clinical interviews. This is because people don’t tend to open up easily which makes it difficult for psychologists to deal with people. Conducting a test is easier than conducting an interview which is why psychologists are also trained in testing research and teaching.

8Information from tests is scientifically consistent in comparison to those from interviews

If your psychologist is only trying to determine a diagnosis, then that’s ok but concerning decisions on legal matters, disability issues and other issues, then the set information yielded from tests helps psychologists compare you to others making the situation a fair one.

9It’s harder to lie on tests

Yes! You don’t really lie in a test but during a clinical interview, one tends not to speak the entire truth for reasons known to them. Tests ring alarm bells whenever a taker tends to lie. Like the Rorschach inkblot test that won’t provide clues about preferences or healthy responses so it’s tough to make yourself look good.

10The Rorschach tests Card II what do you see?>

You most probably have heard about the inkblot tests. These are a set of ten inkblot images that were compiled by a Swiss psychologist Herman Rorschach who initially designed them to test for schizophrenia. However, over the years, these tests have evolved into personality evaluation tests instead. Rorschach believed that every part of a person’s reaction spoke volumes about your personality. Your response usually reveals your subconscious and such tests have also been used on children called to testify in court to examine an inkblot to see if they find images of people fighting. Take a look at card II which is quite famous among these tests. So what do you see?

11The famous card II of the Rorschach test: what it means

The card II interpretation reveals your response to anger. If by chance you saw two people fighting where the red color is made to look like gushing blood, it is suggestive of the fact that if someone really pissed you off, you may want to do a game of thrones on them by stabbing them in their backside. But!! If you saw two people joining hands, then it means you are a calm person in the face of violence. 50% of the people saw wild animals notably elephants fighting.

12Rorschach card 8 what do you see

This is perhaps the most famous Rorschach test which is in color. Figure out what do you see or don’t you see anything at all.

13Summarized meaning of card 8

Some people feel it’s a strange four-legged animal. I found a multicolored samurai. This incidentally is the most complex of all tests and there are many who find it difficult in processing information out of this card. The array of colors represents an emotional spectrum which makes some a bit uncomfortable, especially those suffering from anxiety disorder and emotional disorders indicating a weakened frame of mind that lacks a present cognitive ability to assess a situation.

Positive answers to this test according to psychological evaluation of the Rorschach test are four-legged animals like lions, pigs, bears or a strange animal on the sides. Additional responses are butterfly, rib cage or Christmas tree while some have found reproductive organs.

Negative answers are not being able to see anything in the test which as mentioned above indicates a weakened and defective cognitive state.

All said and done this article was for your information only and not professionally indicative of your mental status that needs to take into account several factors of lifestyle and health. Not everyone is an abnormal person but it is the factors of life that make us so. Whenever you experience emotional disorders, the wisest thing to do is to speak to someone about it or get help.
