It is so amazing that animals have great capabilities to sense natural catastrophes beforehand. Poppy Yang of Taiwan had picked a stray puppy from a parking garage at about six months ago. When she picked the puppy, Poppy had no idea that this puppy would one day save her life. And, the puppy actually returned the favour in best possible way. The puppy did some sort of miracle this week.
Poppy started her day just like any other day on last Tuesday with literally no idea what’s in store in the evening. She started the day normally without any idea that a powerful earthquake is going to hit Taiwan later in the evening. It was mysterious that Poppy’s puppy whom she lovingly calls “Twenty” was able to sense the earthquake beforehand.

"At about 11 o’clock that night, I arrived home and I went out to play with the dog downstairs for a while," Poppy told The Dodo. "We were heading upstairs at 11:30 when suddenly the dog ran back outside and started barking at the ground."

As per Poppy, Twenty was barking abnormally as if to indicate something bad was just around the corner. Apparently, Twenty was concerned about something. Poppy said that as the playtime got over Poppy wanted to inside home and get a shower. But, Twenty was engrossed in something else.

"I told him to stop playing and come inside," Poppy said. "A few seconds later, he rushed outside again and continued barking, very distressed." Twenty was very persistent and did not want to move inside the home. It was very difficult to cajole him. As the dog had refused to go inside home, Poppy had to delay her shower. Just after few minutes, the 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck Taiwan.

When the earthquake subsided, Poppy was pleased to see that her building was still standing firmly. However, many objects which were kept inside the house had fallen down from the shelves. But, the damages were not very dangerous and they appeared to be relatively minor.

As they were about to come to the terms of what actually happened, Poppy finally sneaked into her bathroom which was exactly the place where she would have been if Twenty had not stopped her.

Poppy was quite frightened to see that a glass door was completely shattered and countless pointed shards were seen scattered all over the place inside the bathroom. She was forced to think that if her puppy would not have delayed her shower, then she would certainly have been in great trouble with the earthquake.

"I would have been seriously injured because the moment the glass broke there was no place to hide," she said. However, both Poppy and her dog were just perfectly fine. She thanked almighty for saving them. She also thanked almighty for sending this dog to their life.

In hindsight, Poppy suspected that her dog had already sensed that earthquake was coming. She was completely shocked at the amazing powers of the animals. "People say that animals have the ability to predict things and it seems like it's true," she said.

The notion of animals having superpowers to sense something beforehand is not new. In fact, people talk about animals having superpowers since many centuries back. The most sensitive animals are found to be dogs and cats. However, it is still a mystery that how they are being able to do it.

There are some belief among people that canines have acute sense of hearing which allows them to know about the distant sounds and vibrations which originate because of an earthquake. They also sense sounds which is very difficult for humans to actually make out.

Although, it is still very difficult to determine what factors led to that distressed behavior of the dog prior to the earthquake. The sudden change in the behavior of dog was very difficult to explain. But, Poppy credits Twenty for saving her from earthquake damages on that day.

"I am thankful he delayed me. I think it is our duty to look out for one another," she said, noting that her act of rescuing him months earlier has, in a way, come full circle. "We will live together forever until we’re separated by death. This is the best way we can thank each other."
