So ultimately recycling for many may have gone too far. Instead of cleaning your backside with paper, it’s now family cloth. The very thought of advocating cloth to clean your poo and then wash it later is nauseating but then that’s going to reduce your carbon footprint so they say.

One wonders why there is such a problem to seek an eco-friendly way to o clean your backside when in countries like India; all you have to do is wash!!There is also the bidet feature which is considered more hygienic than toilet paper. Clean water reduces the chance of infection.

If clean water is used, it reduces the inherent chances of infection that is caused by toilet paper and it won’t even clean you thoroughly as water would. But coming back to the issue of family cloth. Instead of throwing away the cloth like tissue paper, you just throw it in a hamper to be washed and reused which again brings up the question that washes it, do you get your hands dirty or do you wash it in the washing machine and soil that device with poo.

If you find this sensible from a recycling point of view, you can even use old cloth that you can fashion into wipes. You can also purchase family cloth in varieties of colors and patterns easily available. The only issue here is that you should use a hamper that is well sealed and kept only for the purpose of the cloth or else your clothes are going to stink. Moreover, it should be kept in places out of the social areas of a home for obvious reasons.

Advocating toilet cloth is going to invite a lot of negative reaction from people but one can’t blame them after all, it can be quite unhygienic if you forget to wash the cloth and leave it soiled for more than a day. It is almost a medieval method of preserving the environment. It sounds drastic and yucky too but then again, there are many who advocate its benefits which is why family cloth is gradually increasing as a new consumer commodity in markets.

Family cloth would have made sense using them as cloth wipes for babies, but that is now being projected for adult use as reusable toilet paper. It could be the grossest thing you might have ever heard and could freak many out but what advocators of the family cloth say is that it’s just like your underwear where you use and wash them clean again but uh oh, they left out the poo sticky part it seems.

Washing family cloth in the laundry using proper detergent and sunning out to dry is, of course, one way to ensure no germs linger on in them. One can also use a disinfectant in the rinsing phase. Family cloth is projected as a zero waste product free from chemicals.

Family cloth obviously will save a lot of money but it is the toxic free factor that is being advocated as the biggest benefit of family cloth. Recycled toilet paper has been found to contain BPA and BPS. Most toilet paper is bleached and that is going to the most sensitive parts of the body.

It would be more sensible to ditch your expensive baby wipes that may contain chemicals. Instead, soft family cloth would be a good idea where you can use a sealed bag or container to keep the soiled cloths till you wash them. The cloth should be washed with detergent in warm water and this could be done on your washing machine. Washing your baby’s behind with a soft warm wet cloth is of course much nicer than a paper wipe.

But where the family cloth is concerned for adults, it grossed out many people. Take a look what some had to say and it seems it isn’t just us who feel so.
Twitter user Nicole Cliffe wrote: (@Nicole_Cliffe) “ahhhh family cloth, my one true enemy”.

Another Twitter used Wario Wario Van Peebles said
(@B1andzig), had a slightly more offended tone, writing, “This morning I learned about ‘family cloth’ and now I’m suing you all.”
Amy Shuford tweeted (@angelamy444) “Surely this is the fall of Western civilization #No Words #familycloth”. But hey, if you’d rather spend more money on laundry detergent, who are we to stop you?

Experts advocate the use of bidets as the most hygienic way of cleaning poop. If you don’t like your hand coming in contact with feces, then this is a great method to reduce the chances of spreading infection like E coli. According to a study in the Journal of Korean Medical Science, Bidets also deliver the process of a sitz bath for anal fissures, piles and injuries. Wet wipes pollute the environment.

If you prefer wet wipes, then know this! Even though they can be flushed, they wreak havoc on the sewage system. No one recalls the 130-ton fatberg that had to be dislodged from the London waste management system in 2017. Even toilet paper increases your carbon footprint because as you all know it requires cutting down of trees. Global toilet paper consumption uses 27000 trees daily.

Although many in the US are tiring to family cloth to clean poop, a debate will definitely rage as to whether it is a healthy and viable solution. There is the issue of washing the soiled cloth and not everyone has time for that, moreover, it can STINK and invite infection into the home. Be simple, to protect the environment and your behind, simply wash your bum. (and your hands after that)!!
